As much as i would like that, i don't think they will. Although i am sure that alot of people are unhappy about that, and the fact that they did it with out telling anyone, they may infact lose a few customers. Who knows, if enough people leave they may just make it free again.

Percentage wise not many customers knew about it. Only those that frequent cell phones boards even knew about it. For those who found out they could access it by mistake, most of those would probably be afraid to use it for fear of being charged.
So far as losing customers, not many people even knew about it. They should grandfather in anybody that calls in and complains.

Class action lawsuit is going to be the only way to get it back... Unless they ARE grand fathering in those that call and point out the Free Wap WAS working during the 14-day buyer remorse period...

For them to take it away.. Is in effect false advertising. (Advertising is not the right word.. got to go eat dinner –You guys I think get the point –A feature, etc, even if it is not part of the plan by default becomes part of the plan, service, or product if customers can access it WIHOUT hacking any passwords, etc) during the 14-day buyer remorse period.

    "Class action Lawsuit"

I just got off the phone with "EasySpeak"("T-M to GO") CS.
I asked why "My account" future not working on t-zones any more . CSR told me it's not avalible for prepaid customers (no more free WAP,need secure connection).
But it was clearly advertised on T-M web site and brochure:
"you may check your balance anytime by clicking "My account"
link on your phone"(smth like that).
BTW CSR told me paid WAP(t-zones) will not be availible soon.May be in the future.

(WTF?? Why am I listed as a Newb with only four posts?? Did someone reset the counters?)
    ============================

I talked to a T-Mo CS manager, who told me that non-TZones WAP was never intended to be free...it was just a loophole that never got closed.

Like it or not, that actually makes sense. Why would T-Mo offer a $5/month WAP plan if people could get the same WAP access for free? It was always supposed to be T-Zones only, for downloading ring tones, wallpaper and other crap. Verizon and ATT do the same thing, always have.

I complained to the manager that (a) I was misled by my sales rep, and (b) the fact that they didn't tell anyone they were making the change was VERY tacky. He agreed, and said lots of sales reps were misinformed, and passed that misinformation on to customers. He also said he'd been fielding PO'ed calls since it happened, and offered me a free month's service (basic charge only), which I think was actually reasonable.

For all you peeps whining about class action suits, get over yourselves....it wasn't false advertizing because T-Mo never promised unlimited WAP access. (T-Zones doesn't count.)

And for everyone thinking of switching to ATT/Cingular....I came from there, and their service sucks WAY more, as does their CS. And you'll pay a lot more for data, as well as for minutes.

I've got three words for you: Get Over It.

i think i lost some posts too.
    (shrug)

but anyway. scroll up to my original response to the "class action lawsuit" jerkoffs. Its not as elequent as yours, but its along the same lines.

comping you one month is a nice guesture though.

on that topic. my biggest complaint is that us prepaid users CANT pay for wap.

    I would in a heartbeat.
And before some idiot tells me to "get postpaid"
I dont have the desire to pay even 29.99 (plus 5 bucks) a month for the phone, nor would i even use that many minutes in a month.

My t-mobile nokia is primarily SMS since i hate doing it on my nextel. Its also a secondary phone when i go over the minutes on the nextel, which is rare.

I like the fact that i can use like 10 minutes a month for 4 months, then all of a sudden use 600 if i need to.

I usually keep my balance at around 1000 minutes, and always take advantage of the 1 year promotions, so i dont dump more then a $50 card on there every few months.

Yea man they're going to get you hooked up with wap (you pay) and then your probally going to hook it up to your laptop and download movies off the net for hours at a time.

I just do not see how you can get bent out of shape on this. Plus the CS reps and TS reps and sales reps I have ever talked to never told me wap is free but that you DO have to pay for it. This has been actual Tmobile employees I have asked just to see what the companies stance was on it. I think alot of you people here only hear and see what you want and then when reality sets in you get all mad cause it does no go with the made up little world you made for yourselves.

Ignorance may be bliss but I doubt it was ever FREE.

If you are post pid users than I dont think 5 bucks a month is a big deal if it is a service you abused when the loophole was around. If you are prepaid users so sorry for your bad luck, but I have heard from Tmo CS reps that something is in the works for you prepaid people.

I really do this crapping and moaning about the so called make believe free wap crap gets over with soon.

Most of you people are adults act like them and set a better example for the younger generation here and do what you know is honest and right, not underhanded and dishonest cause it saved you a few bucks every month. It is not that hard to make money in this world.......
    Ainvar,

If I sign up for the 4.99 plan, will I still be able to dail the *99# from my pocketpc and browse anytime with no additional charges ?

Also I noticed yr post on CSD. I'm able to get it to work on my phone T610, but have not been able to figure out a way to connect from my X30.

    Thanks

    -Raj

It's nice to know I can wake up in the morning and come here and be insulted for making a choice in my life to keep my credit in good shape. They aren't making money off.. as you called us... e cheapo's..? They're making plenty off of me... and the fact that I use pre paid does not make me cheap... in fact it makes me a big spender. I CHOOSE to go with pre pay because I was royally screwed over by Sprint and constantly charged for minutes I never used... and because I PAY MORE I should in fact GET MORE.. like the option to pay a fee for wap.

That ain't being a big spender. Regardless that post was not directed at you. It's directed towards the guy that called me a Class Action lawsuit, jerkoff.... Because I have said that T-Mobile deserves a Class Action Lawsuit for doing away with Free Wap.

(By the way guys, and gals I spent quite a amount of time on the phone with T-Mobile since I have had 11 problematic Motorola Vxxx’s.( and one of those right now has a hardware problem) Each time before getting one swapped out I would call and give them detailed info. (Bugg reports- To help them-and in the long run help all you guys here get a better product.) Which by the way required many hours of my time calling them to document the bug reports, and then many hours more running around town to get replacements instead of calling CS and requesting a re-furb. Why did I have to run around town wasting probally 40 hours? 1: New-phone, for refurb-I don’t think so., and 2: They didn’t have refurbs, and hardly any new ones at the time as all new Vxxx’s were going towards new sign-ups.

Found out later from a Regional T-Mobile Manager that they don’t do anything with bug reports… so I wasted MANY, MANY hours giving them detailed info for nothing and this whole experience with the Vxxx’s has been a big waste of time. (As a side note.. right now I have aphone which has a hardware problem, and needs to go back.. Thing is in my efforts to "help" T-Mobile by reporting "bugs".. I told them at one point that about 90% of the problems went away after FLEXING.. (and later on Flashing to V600 OEM software..). So I may have pproblems getting them to warranty the phones. Now I have to figure out a way to put the phones back to stock before getting service done on them.

Note also I have been with T-Mobile since the old Powertel days, then Voicestream, and now T-Mobile, I’ve had cellphones for about 25 years , have a lot of the service manuals so I know a little about them. I’ve probably forgotten a lot more than most here know.

In fact the reason we got the Vxxx’s was because my wife’s phone was lost/stolen… T-Mobile wanted to charge me more for a replacement, than some smuck, (or pre-paid user) would pay walking in off the street. Now this is after like 8 years of being with them since the old Powertel days… always paying on time… and hardly ever using any minutes… So they have made a bunch of money off of me.

To get a better deal on a phone, I had to drop the old Powertel plan, which had each incoming minute FREE… and here’s the big one… You weren’t billed until the person you were calling picked up. If the phone rang for 40 seconds, and you talked for 22 seconds, that was 1 minute, instead of 2. You paid for the amount of time you talked, instead of being billed for the time the phone rang. T-Mobile bills you from the second you hit the SEND key, to the time you hit the END key. And the amount of data to do a ring request is nowhere near the amount of date being transferred while you’re talking… So that is a big rip-off.

Getting back to the WAP. I was told on MANY occasions that Wap access to sites OUTSIDE T-Zones was indeed FREE and WAS part of the package. It was a “stripped down” version of the “pay” version (T-Zones).. a “limited version”. This was from not only CS, but also the WAP department. This was around 2004–01 > 2004-03….. As time went on I noticed more and more Reps when asked started saying the Free Wap was for those which did not have T-Zones to ONLY access T-Zones pay per download site for ringertones, etc.

Now they’ve cut it off altogether.

Regardless if you guys agree with a class action lawsuit. Free Wap was a feature that WAS directly accessible WITHOUT any hacking into the system, or passwords… during the 14 day buyers remorse period in which customers try-out, and base whether the carrier works for them. Because of such the Free Wap, even if it was not “advertised” becomes part of the plan.

To those who said is was not advertised… Just want to bring to your attention that the plans would say” Wap Access Included… and something about Wap Enabled phones /browser. So T-Mobile does deserve to have their hand slapped with a class action lawsuit IF the don’t grandfather in persons that could access such during their 14 day buyers remorse period.

If it have been a case that passwords or the system had to be hacked into then of course they would not be obligated to grandfather in anyone.
