You will never truly appreciate something..........until it tries to kill you!
I have been accessing the free WAP but the only way I am able to access it is through CSD. I have a Motorola v300 and after all the posts I read it should automatically use the GPRS. I read one post that said I might have to call to have GPRS setup by tmobile for my phone so i called CS and they told me that the only way to get GPRS is if I sign up for the 4.99 t-zones. She told me that if I don't the only way to use WAP is through the CSD. I called again and got another rep who said the same and wouldn't turn on my GPRS access. So here is my question. How do I get my GPRS to work without getting the 4.99 t-zones so I don't use my minutes?
Well maby this is a bit stupid to ask, but how in the world do I setup free wap on my t610 phone?
I never actualy signed up for t-zones, but the settings for t-zones in the phone and cant be deleted... so I assume that I have to add something else inorder to get on the free wap access.
I have the same question. I got my Nokia 3650 today by signing up for a one-year contract from Tmobile, so the phone came loaded with all my settings. I have not signed up for the $4.99 t-zones plan. Part of my confusion seems to be, that they have named my Access Point tzones as well, so it always says it's dialing 'tzones' but I think it is choosing the AP named tzones, not necessarily using tzones service. So the question is, using default settings will I get billed for usage (above a certain point) or no? Here are my current 'tzones' settings:
Name: t-zones
Data Bearer: GPRS
Access Point name: wap.voicestream.com
User name: nokia
Prompt password: No
Password: **** (Don't know what this is)
Authentication: Nromal
Gateway IP address: 216.155.165.50
Homepage: http://wap.myvoicestream.com/
Connection Security: Off
Session mode: permament
Answer is for the majority of people you don't need to, since a T-mobile branded phone comes pre-configured for t-zones, and if you can access the t-zones home page, you should be able to access other WAP pages.
Example: On the T610, go to the t-zones homepage, then hit More, then Enter Address and type in a URL. Then you can hit More again and add the WAP site you entered to the list of bookmarks.
Now just one question, if I use yahoo or aim messenger trough wap (like http://wimd.aol.com) it would be free correct? as I would think it sends all the stuff over wap, and not a normal text message.
Edit: oh yeah, would sending/reciving earthlink email on a t610 (using the built in email program) also be free?

Someone is totally off the wall at TMO. Normally Id say keep calling till you get a CSR with a brain. But in this case I can see them putting a note on the account and we dont need that. Soooo..... Heres the Easy Way. Go ahead and get the cheap TZONEs activated., That will get the GPRS activated on the acct, which it should have been already. Get yourself all setup and the phone working. Then call up and ask that TZONES be removed, theres no contract or activation fee so it is not an issue. Just say you decided you dont want it and leave it at that. You will see that the FREE WAP will stay working.

AOL IM on a mobile, unless its through T-Zones (email & IM) or the above mentioned site (wimd.aol.com), is sent through SMS (Text Messages)- its a real easy way to go into deeeeep overage... Ive seen 500.00 bills from youngsters getting stuck on AIM, & their parents have to eat the bill... its hillarious... but you should be safe if you access the wimd site. POP3 email is going to be only on the 4.99 T-Zones feature.
