I think so. I havent seen a change and I email pictures from my phone to my moblog at textamerica and I dont see any additional fees on my bill. So I say its free, as many people on this forum have to. If you like you can dial 611 and talk to a rep if it makes you feel any better. But I think for the most part, its free.

Offically the free Wap is ONLY for accessing T-Zones website for T-Zones ringer downloads, wallpapers, etc (@99 cents each) to those persons who do not have one of the T-Zones packages.
That's what CS will tell you if you call them from your handset. I would think they will probally flag your account... and later you may start seeing charges for each download from NON-T-Zones websites.

Hmm... Alright, good to know.
But still, I dont think I've ever download a ringtone from T-Zones. I have used their service for looking up a phone number but usually I use my Nokia 3650 and Doris HTML Browser and use the WAP connection for HTML browsing. But I do also download ringtones from a non-tmobile site all the time using the wap browser built into the phone. And ofcourse, still see no extra charges. And I did call about 4 or 5 months ago and spoke with several customer service people about the free wap and had them explain to me that it is free even for outside sites. The word came up about my $2.99 grandfathered plan and I asked if it was also free for everybody, including pre-paid customers. They said yes. So thats what Im going by here...

Yes I like you have never downloaded any ringtones, wallpapers, etc from the T-Zones site, but as of this billing statement a charge appeared for a 3rd party download. Either it’s a mistake, or they’re gearing up to start billing persons for each download they make.
On the CS conversations. I like you several months ago had MANY phone calls into CS, and the data group (Phone(s) were crashing/ random lock-ups during Wap browsing.) I got out of several reps, and the Data departments that yes it was indeed possible to access non T-Zones zone sites via Wap.
PS: ANYONE here have ANYTHING in WRITING saying such???? that Wap is free?
I’ve noticed a BIG change in how reps respond when you call in to ask now about Wap –(free)…. I’d say about 95% of them now are saying the free Wap…is ONLY for accessing "their" T-Zones site to download pay as you go ringer tones and such. Nothing else.
I pointed out to them that if you’re ONLY allowed to access pay as you go downloads…. It isn’t free.
Last time I called them was about a month ago when Yahoo was down for several weeks it seemed. (weather links, and all direct links except for the “Ireland page”… Since I use it primary for checking the local weather, getting the weather in Ireland doesn’t do me much good.

Alright thats strange. Thats the first Ive heard of extra charges apearing on the bill. I guess Ill check my next one coming up and post back if it has extra charges or not. As a matter of fact, im going to download a whole bunch of ringtones right now from another site just to make sure....
*NOTE: If you change the last four digits to anything from 100 to 2200 it gives you a diffrent midi every time. Its like punching in a random number and getting a random ringtone. Great for being board in a long line, etc....

Try accessing T-Zones.. If you can access that you have Wap. If you can't access any other sites that means that T-Mobile IS blocking access.
Free Wap is ONLY for accessing T-Zones, for those that do not have T-Zones...
again, this is confusing ...
If I do not have tzones and have WAP 9which I do) then I SHOULD be getting charged? eh?

Confusing... YES...
Charges???
You may start seeing charges appear. What is going to accelerate T-Mobile doing so is people abusing the system
(I.E. Hooking up their laptop to phone, and downloading MB's at a time)
It has been posted by T-Mobile employees they are in the process of locking it down.
