    You may start seeing charges appear. What is going to accelerate T-Mobile doing so is people abusing the system
    (I.E. Hooking up their laptop to phone, and downloading MB's at a time)

    It has been posted by T-Mobile employees they are in the process of locking it down.

    Offically the free Wap is ONLY for accessing T-Zones website for T-Zones ringer downloads, wallpapers, etc (@99 cents each) to those persons who do not have one of the T-Zones packages.
    Ok, and getting the cheezoid TZones for $4.99/mo (a good deal if this is what I'm thinking it is) will be good enough to use WAP, etc unlimited, right?

    WAP Free?

    WAP isn't free on T-Mobile, per se. WAP used to be billed per KB. However, now T-Mobile charges their WAP access with airtime. So, if you use WAP access of any nature during your allotted "bucketed" amount of time (Anywhere, Anytime minutes) then you are drawing out of those minutes.

    Cheers!

    I've probably downloaded several megs of ringtones, wallpapers, themese using wap and have surfed wap sites daily for months and I have never been charged with airtime minutes. WHere are you getting this info anyways. Have you even used T-Mobile before?

    The Free Wap mentioned is for T-Mobile USA. It has to do with how their system is set-up. It's more than likely a temporary loop hole. Right now there is NO password. Later on I would assume customers will be assigned user names /password to log into the system.
    The more people that are abusing the system (using a laptop/using a allot of bandwidth ) , the faster they will lock it down.

    Officially the FREE Wap is only for accessing the T-Zones website for 99 cent /pay per download ringer tones, etc for those customers who do not have access (pay for T-Zones).

    Questions!!!

    Hello! I am considering Tmobile prepaid as opposed to at&T go phone. Go phone you cannot purchase any phone like you can with tmobile (or verizion for that matter) and convert it. The go phone is only in black and white. The tmobile prepaid phone, the $99 one is in color. Anyone have advice? I know t-zones is free but let me ask you this, does this mean I can email all I want, instant message all I want and it is completely free without .10 being subtracted from my account? I thought perhaps IM might go under text messages. I still have a camera attachment that works with nokia phones and I wonder if it would work with nokia 3595. any daily usage yet for tzones?

    Sorry for the questions but if I spend money for the starter kit and more money on a refill card I want to know for sure! thanks! also can my OUTGOING SMS be configured so it will be FREE? How can I text message my friend in London like I used to on prepaid?
    how does free wap work? any links would be appreciated!

    Cool

    Bit of clarification on things as TMO is doing ALOT of data changes, hope this will help you. According to what I get told in meetings and so is this.

    Tzones are working with a new company to provide a more standalone and features: Below is the word on that.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Rich Communications
    Effective 11/5/03, T-Mobile launched Rich Communications. The Rich Communication Service Offerings are a series of
    new offers geared towards removing the barriers that prevent the end user from accessing many of T-Mobile’s services
    such as Picture Messaging, Text and IM, and Download Fun™.
    Effective 11/5, new customers no longer require a t-zones feature to access other services such as Picture Messaging,
    Download Fun™, etc. With the launch of the Rich Communication Service Offerings, customers automatically have
    access to the “t-zones purchase page**" where they will have the option to purchase any of the following features:
    1. Hot Picks - Downloadable content including Shocking Pictures!!!
    2. Download Fun™ - Downloadable MegaTones®, Wallpapers, and Games
    3. Pix Msgs - Sign up for the Picture Messaging feature (information below)
    4. Unlimited t-zones - Sign up for Unlimited t-zones (information below)
    5. Text/Instant Msgs - Sign up for the T-Mobile $2.99 for 300 SMS feature
    The Rich Communications Features are as follows:
    per selection
    from the handset or via http://t-mobile.com and My T-Mobile.
    3650, & the Nokia n-Gage.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Meaning they are working on stuff for the tzone and wap. Some of it is STILL down! SO meaning the ports open, close, changed etc alot right now as they are locking it down and adding more security to this. This will prevent loopholes etc.

    Next is the memos about T zones:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Unlimited t-zones……………………………………………………………………………………………………$4.99
    Launched 11/5/03. This feature allows customers with a GPRS handset access to T-Mobile's web offering. For $4.99
    per month, customers will receive unlimited access to T-Mobile's standard consumer WAP deck, such as wireless
    information obtained from CNN, ESPN, Internet email, Horoscopes, driving directions and more!
    Reminder - 300 SMS No Longer Included With t-zones
    This is a reminder that the 300 text messages are no longer included with the new t-zones features ($4.99
    t-zones Unlimited and $9.99 t-zones Pro Unlimited). Customers interested in text messaging can now
    subscribe to the $2.99 300 SMS or $6.99 1000 SMS add-on features if they intend to send and receive a
    large amount of text messages. Otherwise, customers always have the option of sending a text message
    at a rate of $0.05 per message. Customers that have the grandfathered $2.99 t-zones and $9.99 t-zones
    pro will continue to get the grandfathered t-zones offering that includes the 300 SMS.
    The $4.99 t-zones Unlimited feature will be available to add via the following ways:
    • Via the t-zones purchase page on customer handset**
    • Watson
    • Customer Service
    www.T-Mobile.com
    • MyT-Mobile.com
    • CAM
    ~=~+~=~=~+~+~
    Unlimited t-zones Pro……………………………………………………………………………….………………$9.99
    Launched 11/5/03. For $9.99 per month, t-zones Pro customers will receive the same unlimited access to T-Mobile's
    wireless information as stated above in the Unlimited t-zones description. In addition they will receive unlimited access
    to their corporate email.
    Reminder - 300 SMS No Longer Included With t-zones
    This is a reminder that the 300 text messages are no longer included with the new t-zones features ($4.99
    t-zones Unlimited and $9.99 t-zones Pro Unlimited). Customers interested in text messaging can now
    subscribe to the $2.99 300 SMS or $6.99 1000 SMS add-on features if they intend to send and receive a
    large amount of text messages. Otherwise, customers always have the option of sending a text message
    at a rate of $0.05 per message. Customers that have the grandfathered $2.99 t-zones and $9.99 t-zones
    pro will continue to get the grandfathered t-zones offering that includes the 300 SMS.
    The $9.99 t-zones Pro Unlimited Pro feature will be available to add via the following ways:
    • Watson
    • Customer Service
    www.T-Mobile.com
    • MyT-Mobile.com
    • CAM
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Then for some questions in comparrision of the 9.99$ vs 19.99$

    What is the difference between Unlimited t-zones Pro and Unlimited T-Mobile Internet?
    t-zones Pro is mobile Internet that has been optimized for the best experience via your GPRS Phone. T-Mobile
    Internet is all about the real Internet on your handheld device or PC Card. T-Mobile Internet allows you to access
    HTML sites where t-zones allows you to access the t-zones WAP deck only. T-Mobile Internet does include access
    to the WAP deck.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    As for easy speak.
    t-zones EasySpeak launched on March 31, 2004
    t-zones EasySpeak is an introductory data offer for T-Mobile EasySpeak Prepaid customers, which allows them free
    access to t-zones, the ability to manage their account, free MegaTones & Wallpaper in Download Fun, access to links for
    CNN, ESPN, & ABC News, and free access to Fun & Games! Fun and Games includes WAP games, horoscopes, and
    more!
    t-zones EasySpeak brings prepaid customers all of this great functionality directly to their handset! t-zones EasySpeak
    will be available on WAP/GPRS handsets.
    Ok decided to break off that post and start another to talk again.
    Thats the news for JUNE.
    So basically you might be getting wap for FREE right NOW. However this maybe changing to where you will have to pay 4.99$ for UNLIMITED data GRPS transmissions. Otherwise you may risk being charged per megabite!
    Another question I saw asked here was confusion regarding AIM. TMO has 2 ways and their service reps get confused too. ALOT of the phones have a built in AIM client.
    **** THIS CLIENT FOR AIM USES TEXT MESSAGE SYSTEM ****
    What Im saying is this, this client will come off your text message package IF you have that. (2.99 for 300 incoming or sending, or 6.99 for 1000) OTHERWISE THIS WILL COST .5 CENT PER MESSAGE YOU GET AND SEND!
    Now if you have the 4.99$ Tzones and access AIM VIA that T zones homepage OR wap page. It is UNLIMITED AIM for the 5$
    ANYTHING you can access via T zones/wap is FREE with your included plan!
    4.99$ or above, you can access your pop3 email via your phone. If you have a 3650 or s60 phone, a built in client is there, so you dont even need to worry about a few issues.. like paying .25 cent per MMS message to a email, cause your using your OWN email, just sending it out via tzones.
    So basically there is 2 forms.. one is a Icon inside your phone that says "AOL/AIM"
    and then the one inside your WAP which says "Email and IM"
    (If your using that AIM wap page from waol thats also free)
    Just DO NOT USE THE ICON AIM FROM YOUR PHONE! This is designed for those who ONLY wanna text message. Otherwise be prepaired to pay up the ××× for your service.
    That is why no one at service centers can help you. Its T zones vs a Text Message Client. T zones AIM is free. Client AIM software is NOT!(Client AIM is found on MOST TMO phones EXCEPT the 3650 and maybe 6600, You will know as in your main phone menu you will see a AIM icon guy)
    (Rem s60 series phones can DL applications like IM+ and when it connects via tzones, you are free as its a tzone connection and not a text message connection.)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    ×××× I think my posts are getting long and confusing.. sorry..

    Wap Pages you will have access too with or without Tzone 4.99$, Yes this is true. However.. should you ever need support from TMO about internet stuff or your GRPS.. they will not help you as you are not paying for it!

    Wap isnt included as you think.. some phones maybe able to access it, however, they also might be soon charging again by kb/mb depending on your usage. TMO Germany and other countries also charge per KB.

    So basically if you get free wap now.. be prepaired to maybe be charged soon or lose it fully with the new changes.. 4.99$ is a SAFE bet to have data enabled AND get support from TMO! Otherwise anything that does not work, or have issues on you will have no one to ask about.

    Oh yes. Someone else talked about CSD and minutes.
    Yes you can access T zones or TMO wap deck by a CSD. I have the settings too. WHat this is, it will use your MINUTE PLAN to connect to the wap at a MUCH slower speed. Meaning if you have 600 Daytime mins and unlimited nights and weekends. If you connect to the CSD during the day, it will take from your mins, if your night or weekend, its free.

    GRPS cannot be taken from your mins.

    Hope this answers SOME questions...
    So final comment:
    Depending on your market.. (Where you live)
    You MAY or MAY NOT be charged for WAP access if you do not have the 4.99$ tzones. Just REM this.. WAP Gateway may work too.. but with T zones, you will KNOW your able to have XHTML too as well as email support, AIM access for free, and no charges should they ever change the system.

    End word.. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK IF YOU DO NOT PAY FOR IT!

    Mysticales !!!!!

    Thank you for posting what is going on with Wap /T-Zones. There were a couple of other guys here who worked for T-Mobile but would NOT post HARD data about what is going on.

    So far as your posts being long... No way... Lots of good info... Keep it coming!!!!

    Please keep us updated with the latest!!!!

    Many thanks!!!

    Well I try... but yea. I dont know what else I would need to cover. I mean rest of the stuff no one cares about as we all are more worried with T zones lol. I know I keep mine..

    Granted my bill says "Included WAP Access" which is seperate from my t zones.. but I know I dont think ill drop tzones.. just so that when I have issues, I have a reason to call up and complain.

    Hey on the CSD being taken off your minutes. I read OR was told when I called T-Mo CS Wap department that IF you have T-Zones (or higher)... and the phone was unable to connect via GPRS (system buys or N/A, dead, down, etc) that the CSD minutes would count against your minutes BUT, they would automatically be credited back. (since after all GPRS was down.. and the phone defaults to CSD).

    PS: One the Free WAP... How are they going to inform customers that are using the free Wap, that they have started charging per kb, or whatever? Are they going to send a SMS /text message… or is the customer at the end of the money going to open up their bill and see $900 worth of charges?
