Well as for WAP and charges per KB. That is up to the customer to know. You get told that if you want internet via the phone, its 4.99$

Just like ringtones.. pay per use. Or when your on a mobile to mobile plan and go into a roaming zone, also it uses your mins.

Everything with cell phones is "Buyers Beware"

So if you feel insecure. Call up your service ppl, ask them, will you be charged for using WAP without T zones, then have them memo your account on what they said. So you have something to fall back on. Otherwise its your own fault if you dont pay 5$ and get charged up the ×××. IF you get charged....

Now as for CSD... thats a hard one.. I dont know ANYONE who got charged back for this. Panasonic GD55 does not support GRPS, only CSD. I had to program it.. T zones lets them access the wap from that CSD.. but used their minute plan. They were not refunded for the time. So no.. if you dont see a G symbol.. then beware.

    HiYa Mysticales,

I have called CS many times (I've had a total of 11 problematic Vxxx's and on each one I called to give them feedback /bug reports so Motorola could come out with a new flash to address issues. Wasted a bunch of my time doing so, trying to help my fellow man.

On each call I documented what was discussed, time of day, persons name, id number, call center id…. I was told Wap access to outsides was possible, and was free.. (January /Feb 2004).. (Later on I noticed more and more reps saying the included Free Wap was only for accessing their pay=per download site.)

On the CSD, the T-Mobile Vxxx by default is flexed to access first by GPRS, then if that’s not available CSD… and sometime during the past 4 months I believe I was told by T-Mo CS that IF you had T-Zones, the air-time would be zero’d out.

Man, just thinking about all this makes me wish I had access to the T-Mobile internal website to access official documents. It seems you can call CS 10 times, and get 8 different answers.

I agree with you “Everything with cell phones is "Buyers Beware"…

No small wonder T-Mobile has that arbitration clause in their contracts.

T zone access is avail via CSD; but you ARE charged for that, via minute plan. That is confirmed!

FreeWAP maybe there, it might not be, it changes.. depending on your market etc.

Some is per KB, others is just a backdoor into it. Also I can say this.. I think it depends on the phone too.. Ive seen some that dont let you access t zones, vs those who oddly were able to access it without a plan.

Just beware.. 5$ isnt that much, least you know 100% your covered and have CS support should you need.

Also.. ask for the data department when you do talk to CS, they work better. Im just glad I work for them.. I get diff channels.. granted none of them are allowed to talk about ports..

Well let's talk about ports then. Are most ports open on the $19.99 Internet add-on plan?

I currently have TZones and have fun casually surfing on my ipaq (bluetooth rules). Also when I send a photo with the built-in mail client (N6600) I use myemail.t-mobile.com's outgoing mail server.

I want to be able to do ANYTHING on my ipaq... (control some servers with VNC, MSN messenger, Yahoo, Exchange connectivity etc etc.)

If I take off the $4.99 TZones and add the $19.99 Internet should I be able to do ANYTHING I want on the Ipaq or even my laptop? Or are some common ports still blocked?

CSD at nights or weekends is FREE, no matter when or how long.

Not sure.. I had no issues as I was using a diff ISP to dial into using the phone as a modem. If your dialing into the GRPS or WAP internet way.. I dont know whats blocked.

OK getting back to the t-zones, gprs, wap, etc.
The following information is based on a t-mobile plan using the SE T610.

How do you know if you're accessing your wap sites thru gprs or tzones(i didn't think you could access other wap sites thru tzones)? Because when i choose gprs or tzones as my default wap profile, i see no difference. I see the globe on the top and am able to access any wap site. Does this mean that If I have tzones as my default wap profile, i get charged for surfing wap sites and if i have gprs as my default wap profile, i don't get charged?

I was also under the impression that as long as i saw the globe, it was free. is this true?

    Thanks

    Guywithaphone,
By default T-Mobile phones IF they are GPRS capable will use that ... and only if GPRS is Not available will use CSD (your minutes)
If you are running a STOCK T-Mobile FLEX (or whatever Samsung calls it) you probably won't be able to change it. I’d try SEARCHING for the answer in the Samsung forum.

PS: Get in the habit of posting in the BODY of your posts the flash /flex your phone is running. It makes it easier for others to help YOU, and helps others that may have the same problem later on find a solution. It is also helpful to post what part of the world you are in as some things are location specific. You’re on T-Mo… USA I assume?

Phone numbers in XXXXXXXXXX format , instead of XXX-XXX-XXXX
Auto Time Update, VM indicators working
