I got billed for a download off Ranova's site... Using the free Wap via GPRS.
Im using a v300 phone and i use the browser to download ringtones from wap sites, not from t-zones. Im in new York and i just wanted to know if im going to get charged by dowloading stuff from wap sites?
Another question, im dont know if im using gprs or csd. I wanted to know which one im using cause on my phone it doesnt show which one im using.
Originally posted by candyluvsmovies Hello! I am considering Tmobile prepaid as opposed to at&T go phone. Go phone you cannot purchase any phone like you can with tmobile (or verizion for that matter) and convert it.
You can buy any AT&T GSM phone and activate it with a GoPhone account, but you'll have to pay FULL RETAIL. T-Mobile will charge you full retail if you by their phone for EasySpeak anyways. It's a pretty universal policy among all carriers.
Whether it's AT&T GoPhone, T-Mobile EasySpeak, Cingular KIC or Verizon FreeUp, you're free to bring your own equipment to activate with a new account. Trust me, I've got ALL OF THE ABOVE prepaid service by bringing my own phones. Go get the phone you want on eBay, it's a lot more practical and easier on your pocket.
I advise you to go to a corporate store to activate if you plan on to BYOE. Note that even though a store has nothing but a BIG HUGE corporate logo out front, it still may not be a corporate store. Always ask the rep inside first.
Is access to WML (WAP 1.0) site via TMO's WAP gateway FREE?
Is access to HTML (WAP 2.0) sites with a proxyless connection FREE?
Is it FREE to connect to a web server on a port other than port 80? Even if it's a typical WAP 1.0/2.0 server, but just not on port 80?
If the answer is NO to any of the above question, what do you need to add to your account in order to add such feature? The Unlimited Internet Add-on Plan?
Can EasySpeak customer get internet access other than WAP?
Is there any other options than the Unlimited Internet Plan? What if I have a PDA/Smartphone and just want to use POP3/IMAP/IM occasionally and don't want to pay $20/mo?
The above questions are good, and I've got a few of my own, too. Some haven't been addressed, and some haven't been answered very clearly. I've had T-mobile service for about three days now, and I'm still trying to figure out what I can get away with (I have no added options on a FamilyTime Basic plan). For example:
--I accessed my RoadRunner POP account over GPRS, using my T610's built-in client. Obviously, that went over port 110, so is it still free?
--I couldn't access my SMTP server because it requires authentication (which the T610 doesn't appear to support). The port wasn't blocked by T-mobile, since it was the RR server that gave me the error. If I could access it, would sending the email be free?
--And what about downloading ringtones, games, etc. with my WAP browser from outside sites? If I go to a site like myT610.net and get some free ringtones, will I get charged the same way I would if I got ringers from t-zones? The third-party site obviously isn't charging me, but when the T-mobile proxy sees a .imy file going through, will it tack on a charge?
--And speaking of t-zones...what's the point? If WAP access is free, including cool features like AIM, what would I have to gain by paying $5/mo? Are there features in t-zones that I'm missing out on?
--If I were to get charged for my GPRS usage, how would this show up on my bill? What's the charge called as it would appear in the statement? Would it be $/KB or $/min? And what do other carriers charge for a comparable amount?
I know they're newbie questions...and I know they must irritate the veterans...but surely you guys can appreciate how confusing this can be. Once upon a time, each of you was clueless, too.
I am using IM+ on my P900 and can't connect. I can connect to email, and WAP via Opera. The support people said I need a full TCP/IP internet connection, not WAP to use IM services. I tried a couple of other chat programs and no go. How do I configure internet access? I tried internet2.voicestream.com and it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas out there?

hmmmmm.maybe tonight?
Not much longer if people are hooking up to laptops and such without paying for a data plan.
If you have a business and bandwidth hogs were stealing bandwidth wouldn't you lock it down if it was excessive?
It's one thing to use the free Wap on a casual basis to check the weather and such.. another thing altogether to hook up to a laptop and suck down MB's or GB's of data.
