    Telus launches C$1.1 bln offer for Microcell

    TORONTO, May 13 (Reuters) - Telus Corp. (Toronto:T.TO - News), Canada's No. 2 phone company, said on Thursday it would would launch an all-cash bid for Microcell Telecommunications Inc. (Toronto:MTb.TO - News) that values the wireless carrier at C$1.1 billion ($791 million).
    Vancouver, British Columbia-based Telus said it would bid for all of the issued and outstanding publicly traded shares and warrants of Microcell, the smallest of Canada's four wireless carriers.

    but I thought Xirc always states that Telus doesn't want Fido's cheap clients????

    The only thing they want less than Fido's cheap clients is Fido's cheap plans to hit the market.

    Or, bring in Victor Li, the Hong Kong businessman who tried to buy into Air Canada. He's a Canadian citizen plus he's son of Li Ka-shing so there's ties to Hutchison and Orange HK.

    they can easily "get around" this, all they have to do is reject the offer. but if microcell wants to be bought, then they will accept the offer, simple as that.

    i dont think its as simple as just rejecting the offer, its a hostile bid, if the shareholders want it then, Microcell will have real problems

    This is BIG news! AHHHH!! TELUS! I would much prefer Bell to buy them. Bell is much better. Telus = Evil.

    won't happen, there is a bigger partner out there who wants a part of the Canadian telecom industry...these talks have been going on for 2 years.
