This strikes me as really odd. Perhaps there is some logic behind it... but for the life of me I cannot understand why VIETNAM is among the list of countries you can call without WorldCla$$ being activated on your account.
Here is a quote from the website:
All T-Mobile subscribers can call Mexico, Canada, Jamaica, Vietnam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, regardless of whether they have the WorldClass feature.
Okay... Canada, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and the USVI's I can understand. Jamaica is a wee bit odd... But Vietnam is just crazy.
Am I the only one who thinks this is odd?![]()

My ex was the reason I began to use cell phone!
Look how far she got me!
they are not considered worldclass countires?![]()
Ming Always Zigzaging Dangerously Along
R.I.P to The key of my success
Drinks, dances and tips at a strip joint -- $500
Entire room service menu (to go) -- $1,000
Seven-year contract -- $10 million
Alabama football -- Price-less
oh Vietnam is considered Worldclass all right! $1.49 to call and $2.49 to roam!
Same here...I cant understand why its costlier to roam in say China or India than in that godforsaken hellhole called Pakistan.![]()
Whoever negotiates these roaming agreements for T-Mo really needs to head to a decent law school.

Feraknig azmanig huh?
Well frankly I don't give a ×××× about who T-mobile signs agreement with, just that if it gives that kind of ability, then why the cost is still that high!
Ahhhhhhhhh... at least with my Gorilla Mobile account it is only $0.53 a minute to call Vietnam.
I have not the slightest clue as to why I would want to call that communist country... but should I ever... I will use my GM rates rather than WorldCla$$.
Can an enlightened T-Mobile employee shed some light on this?
Who know all the sort of crazy things that go into those rates. I think roaming in Mexico City is more expensive than Serbia for instance. It is pretty crazy. Japan is real expensive too and that sure isnt because they have a primitive network. Depends a lot on the degree of competition in the country. One reason Western Europe is so cheap.
just wait until tmo unlocks international dialing on all post paid accounts (except smart access). they are doing that later this year, all accounts will then be able to dial internationally from the usa without world class provisioning!
Other than calling third world countries Mexico is the most expensive country to call even from a fixed line phone. It's much more expensive to call Mexico than it is to call Europe.Originally posted by GadgetTravel

LOL.... It costs me $0.06 a minute to call my friend in Germany... but $0.14 to call Mexico.
Does not make much sense!!! (Considering geographic proximity)
Geography has nothing to do with it as most would believe. Mexico for example doesn't have a lot of competition for it's national/international carrier lines. Yes there might be lots of companies that provide access to Mexico but that's not the same thing as owning physical lines so the fees to use the lines are higher.Originally posted by Highline

Mobile Phone companies, especially in the USA, have a long way to go to catch up to landline international rates. AT&T at least started offered special rates (seen the ads a few times), of course you have to pay a fee to get those rates, but certainly worth it if you make a lot of int'l calls and it's a start at least.

World Class or not, it's still very expensive to make an international call directly from your cellphone. Just get a international calling card from the net. It costs 3 cents to call to most Asian countries.
BTW, I don't think phone companies are paying that much for those roaming minutes. They know if that call is that important for you, you will pay for it anyway.

That won't last long. International calling is one of the major areas of fraud for cellular companies. Automatically allowing it is going to cost them some bucks.
I cannot understand the pricing of those calls, but perhaps because Germany is a member of NATO??Originally posted by Highline
