I've experienced no problems whatsoever - live in Gwinnett Co, commute through DeKalb & Clayton to Henry, with no cell problems. Of course, I haven't been into Atlanta proper in the past two weeks.

I have no clue if im the only one that's having problems but for the past 2 weeks, the network has just been awful. Even worse at the nights. Calls dropped, can't even call out. ANyone else experiencing this?

I live in Conyers and travel to Atlanta, Gwinett (all up 85), Decatur and all over to Buckhead too, and my phone's been great. Signal fluctuation has slightly increased at my house, but overall its been rather sturdy lately, aside from the fickleness lately. What phone are you using? It could be the phone, not cingular's side.

Hey IIDX, do you have any idea what Forsynth (particually the town of Cumming (yes i know its a funny name)) county coverage is like? (and Atlanta metro for that matter) I'm curious because I'm going to be in Atlanta in several days for about a week.
I was in a Atlanta a several weeks back, and I had no issues at all. I got good reception with my trusty 6200, and no dropped calls.
Atlanta is arguably one of Cingular's best covered networks because it's one Cingular's original networks - dates all the way back to BellSouth Mobility (one of Cingular's parent companies).
I've had no problems with my service, full signal just about everywhere. ICingular.

Actually I dont think ATL was part of the DCS (GSM) market or was it...im not sure. The oldest GSM networks native to Cingular are the Pac Bell Network aquired by SBC and the old BLS DCS markets in TN/NC/SC.Originally posted by xlr8

I've been a GSM user in atlanta for a while and I thought powertel was the only player in town till the rest came.

You are right. Atlanta is a new GSM 850 overlay market (Genesis) and not part of the old DCS market.Originally posted by WDEngineer

Anyone know how good Cingular's coverage in Cherokee Co. is?
Got Tmo now which I like them alot but they dont have a good build out here in Woodstock at all, it's REALLY bad.
Generally very good...there are some areas between Canton and Cartersville where VZW is better (but not by much.)Originally posted by Vampgirl

In general, Cingular is very solid in metro Atlanta; they do have their problem areas, of course (parts of Sandy Springs where ALL carriers are weak, parts of Walton County, Coweta County [which is a 1900-only market for Cingular, unlike the rest of metro ATL], etc.)
FWIW, the main reason I use VZW and not Cingular isn't Atlanta coverage (I've found Cingular to be slightly BETTER than VZW in much of metro Atlanta), it's because Cingular is rotten in Chattanooga and rural east Tennessee.
