    thanks wonster...

btw, has anyone ever tried cashing in on those manufacturer incentives where if you graduate from school recently, they'll give you something like a $1000 discount on a new car purchase...

my sis just graduated but she doesn't have a driver's license...can i get her to buy the car so i can get it for less?
are those graduation incentives combinable with any other manufacturer rebates?

My understanding is if the prov. u reside in chgs pst and u bring
a car into the prov. from anywhere they hose u when u register it.
Unless you are buying a rare vehicle u would probably be better
buying it in B.C. as the market in Alberta is a seller's market.
There is so much money in Alberta now, cars sell themselves.
Dealerships are just watching the money walk in the door.
Not so much in B.C.. So u might get a better deal in B.C..

yes it's true, because Alberta doesnt even have PST nor Luxury Tax.

I moved to Vancouver from Calgary 4 years ago.
The rule is that if your car is bought for more than 6 months, BC will not charge you the additional 7.5% PST.
However, if you bought a brand new car in Alberta and brings it to B.C, you would have to pay the 7.5 + 3 Luxury tax (if ur car is more than $48000) when you get your B.C insurance and license plate.

If you dont want to pay the extra tax, either leave your car in Alberta for 6 months or you can still bring your car to B.C without changing to B.C License Plate. However, if your Alberta Insurance company can prove that you reside in B.C, they would not be liable for any damages or losses when you have an accident in B.C

    good luck
These kind of luxury taxes encourage all kinds of bad things.

I thought the luxury tax started at 35K?
Have they raised it or has it always been at 48K?

no pst in alberta, but there may be residency laws; that is one must have an alberta driver's license... that said, yor sister would need to have a license to purchase the vehicle, and the vehicle must be in her name to use the recent grad incentive (though you can trnasfer ownership afterwards)...
