Brewsky 1.0 - easy to use ring tone manager for VZN 8900

    http://www.dietk.com/brewsky/brewsky.exe

    Required Files:
    Mscomm32.ocx
    Tabctl32.ocx
    Comctl32.ocx
    VB Runtimes

    1. Make a directory "RingTones" in the same directory as brewsky.exe
    2. Put all your ring tones into this directory.
    3. Load up brewsky.exe
    4. Select your COM port for your cable. Press Connect.
    5. Click 'Add >' on each ring tone you would like to add to the phone. Note: File are only queued here.
    6. When you are done, press 'Upload Ring Tones' to transfer the files and auto-update the ring tone index file.
    7. When the uploading has finished, click Yes to reboot the phone!

ps, I will create an installer with all the files, plus a little more help for this within the next few days.

I followed the instructions, but I get a "Error uploading".

I took the first 25 seconds of "smoke on the water", changed the MP3 to 64 kbps, and 22500 Hz mono ( now it is 200KB ).

Renamed the file ".mid", but I get the error...

I also renamed the file smoke.mid, same result...

    I have of course, a 8900 ( from Telus ).

Enjoy the files. I have unlimited bandwidth so you can pound it all day and my ISP will not start crying. I also have another site I haven't even used yet that is way bigger than this one and I could host some unlocking tools for Nokia, Motorola, etc. if anyone needs them really bad and can't find them anywhere else.

    Bitpim 7.11.zip

    Futuredial USB Driver

    CID's Original Ringtone Tool

CID's Ringtone Tool Version 1.1 (The New One)

    Glock's Wallpapers

    Remove Camera Sound, Etc.

I am sorry, but none of the link work !!

I am mostly interesting in the CID's Ringtone tool...

ok this tool is made for the verizon wireless phones, but it should work for the telus with a little modification. i noticed you have no other ring tones on your phone? when you connect, your list should be automatically imported. is this correct? if so, your upload error might be because the directory does not exist. i had that problem when i first got my 8900. in the mean time, you could try using bitpim to create that directory. i'll have to update the code to check for that. umm, but if you already have that directory and have other uploaded ring tones, then we have some other problem.

also, dont rename the mp3 to mid. i leave all my mp3s as mp3 and mid as mid.

also, the smallest file size for mp3 ring tones can be made using 24kbs 22500hz mono, instead of 64. it sounds the same on the phone but will save you around 100kb in file size. if you use cool edit pro, just set the bit rate filter to around 7000. here is an example: Julian Theory - If I Told You This Was Killing

and only the ring tone feature is working right now with my tool, although wallpaper and getting camera pics will be finished soon.

Wow bonch. You're my new hero. It's awesome. It rewrote the header file or whatever the phone uses though so my old tones were lost (they're still in the mms/om directory - just not accessible by the phone itself). I'll just download them back through bitpim and put them on with your program.

Amazing man. As a side note, any chance I can see the source code? I'm getting into vb now and I'm curious how you accomplished it (if not it's cool.. just wondering). If so, email is otherside80 (at) hotmail dot com =)

Huge thanks. Next toast is for you

I think I have found the problem...

The directory names are not the same on Telus !

I will have to check tomorrow ( forgot cable at work ) but most directories are abreviations.

You should allow configuration of the directory names...

Plus, it appears the file content is not the same.

I am a professional software developper in C++ / C#, with some experience with VB.

Would you be willing to let me help you, by sharing with me your source code so I can try to adapt it to Telus ( I can't garantee anything thought ).

I would give you all my mods and agree not to give out the code.

    If interested, e-mail me : mp[at]martinpierre.com
