    I saved copies of the original mma files from the phone - I may upload them and see if the engineering menu is still there.
    That's wierd that it didn't actually replace the SimApp function. Double check that you uploaded them to the right directory with P2Kman - common mistake sometimes. You may have some mma files floating around your root directory instead of /a/mobile/system/ - Depending on your flex, your mma files might have already had Engineering in them. It's typically the last item in the Office Tools menu.

    Something is odd because the editied mma files are on my PC, but when I downloaded them again from the phone, there were no changes in these files, ie SIMApp was still there (the hard drive copies were FEM). However, I keep backups in a close by directory - maybe I uploaded one of the backups by mistake as I find no extra mma files on the phone.

    Well, at least we now know that the stock Cingular flash/flex does not need this menu adjustment.

    the icon disapearing is caused by the animated menu icon on/off option (don't know if it is exactly that, but its somthing like that), if you enabled it in the seem file you can find it in the initial setup menu

    It's possible that you (1) didn't save the changes in the hex editor, (2) uploaded the files to the wrong directory on your phone with P2Kman or (3) uploaded the wrong file (a backup) to the phone with P2Kman.

    FYI - I had to update the mma files on my stock Cingular flex to get the Engineering menu. Maybe you have a newer version and they've done away with some of the junk in the flex.

    I had this problem. Turn off the Animation setting under the initial setup and they will come back.

    P2K manager has an option to set file attributes... In noticed a file called websessions… maybe the file attributes could be changed to allow editing?.. (assuming of course that is were they put the data)
    I'm looking at P2K Manager and it does have that file attributes box but how do you find the current attributes on the file and what variables for attributes can one set?
    Cheers,

    Current attribute is in the attributes column (last number).

    1 = r/o
    2 = hidden
    4 = system

    combinations can be created by adding... ie r/o and hidden: 1 + 2 = 3.

    I am on T-Mobile and whenever I receive a voicemail is comes as a text message from "123". Is there any way to block this message and have the voicemail notification come up instead?

    I'm having problem getting the Date not displayed on my V525. With Provider Tag and everything else there's no problem. I edited 01a8_0001.seem for hundred times, putting 0's, uploading that seem from MotorolaTool, and the date is still there. Any suggestions?

    Question AIM anyone?

    Has anyone enabled AIM on the V400/600 and find that it works? Or is it carrier dependent, as some of the threads I read lead me to believe it is? Does it work with Cingular? Or ATTWS? Or T-Mobile?

    HiYa Xlr8,

    1 = r/o
    2 = hidden
    4 = system

    1 = r/o ???? R/W (read /write)????

    What does r/o stand for? if the above was not a typo?

    PS: Keep up the great work!

    BTW: Have you or anyone else here used the Mototool MMA editor to edit menu items (such as adding the engineering menu to flexes that do not have it)?

    I would assume you have not since your doing all this via hex-editing.. When I select that option a box appears with menu items... So far I haven't been able to edit what appears in the box. I was in a hurry.. so maybe I overlooked something?

    HiYa Xlr8,

    Have a question and a REQUEST if this has not been found yet.

    Would like to add a feature found in

    GI9V600000AA0E9 -1.0.0.2.6.E. (AKA: Engineering Flex)

    Regarding the WAP Browser.

    GI9V600000AA0E9 has a Wap browser that has bar at top that shows a forwards and backwards button. More importantly you can navigate webpages with only the joystick. It allows you to not only scroll up and down the page, but go backwards and forward as well without having to "find" the "next" button to display the next page if that page has already been accesed.

    Other flexes have this striped out. Like the ablity to navigate with the joystick.. and be able to go from page to page without having to scroll down the displayed page to find the "forwards", or next page link if page has already been accessed.

    SE6446AXXF10F8_1FF
    SE6452AXXP10F9

    BTW: If not to you Xlr8.... BIG Thanks to whoever found the XXX-XXX-XXXX format option!... and the Auto Time Update feature to be able to add to an GI9V600000AA0E9 install!

    R/O is read only, when the flag (whether a bit, byte, whatever) is set (on) the file can not be updated. This would include writing to it, deleting it, renaming it, etc.
