OK, now I have a question for you. You said you added the "patch ERI Banner" option, but does it get rid of it just when it says verizon wireless, or when it says "extended network" also? i know there are patches for both.
×××× all i need to do is get the com ports to work, when i use bitpim or brew it wont let me phone connet, in bitpim i get error msg about ports, in brew it just says port open, ive tried all com ports, can someone please help?
The only way I have gotten connected to Brewsky is to first go in to Bitpim and connect. Then, close Bitpim and go into Brewsky and connect. It should work. It has worked for me everytime. Forgot to mention, I was using Com Port 4.
Anyone able to use Brewsky with a com port over 12?
My phone is on port 14, and I can access it with BitPim just fine, but not with Brewsky because of the port issue.
Of course, I should probably just re-arrange things so that I can access on a lower port, but I'm stubborn that way.
Also, when I do get Brewsky up and running, I will probably want to make a config for Metro PCS in the .ini. Does not look too bad, but I don't suppose that anyone has messed with that allready, have they?
I could not get my phone to recognize mp3's - had to rename them to mid.
I am using CellOne(Western Wireless) and had already e-mailed a bunch of mp3's renamed as mids to my phone. (Those were stored in root/MMS/OM.) I deleted those with my phone before I used Brewsky to upload 4 or 5 mp3's. My phone didn't show them in the media gallery. I then renamed a few to mid and uploaded them. Voila--the phone saw these just fine and was able to assign as ringers. In Bitpim, I saw the mids AND the mp3s all in user/sound/ringer, but my phone only showed the mids. So I deleted the mp3s with Bitpim and uploaded the rest of my tones as mids. All working great for me now.
Side note: I noticed that the tones I uploaded with Brewsky start playing faster (about .5 second delay as opposed to about 1.5 second delay with the ringers I downloaded to MMS/OM via e-mail), and I am able to scroll through the tunes faster, too.
bonch - thanks again for a great, easy to use app!!
i have metro pcs and brewski works just fine i use the verizon on com 3 but i do have to opend bitpim and let it era out first then open brewski but if you could make a metro pcs tab and kill the need for opening bitpim that would great!
I took my phone to the Verizon store and asked them to remove the banner. The man just smiled and said "Sorry, that's built into the software."
I promptly went home, used the stuff I learned here, and got rid of it myself hehe Thanks guys
I downloaded Brewsky last week and it worked just fine. I removed the verizon banner and uploaded a few ringtones with no problem at all. Very cool indeed
I never downloaded bitpim because I didn't seem to need it, Brewsky did everything I wanted. I'm using windows xp home and I accessed the phone in Com4 with no trouble. Then something happened.
Now I'm having a problem connecting with Brewsky. I don't know what happened but suddenly I cannot do anything. No matter what port I try nothing happens. I get a time out error message on every port but Com1. On Com1 I see the "uploading" window forever when I try to upload a ringtone.
When I plug in the cable, instead of the familiar "bing bong" sound I hear "bong bong bong". I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and brewsky but to no avail.
I had to use BitPim and let it error out, then I could open Brewsky and connect to the phone.
The problem I'm having though is that sometimes when I tell it to read the song data from the phone it doesn't get everything. Then, if I upload a song, the ones that Brewsky didn't see are not accessable from the phone.
I said, "oh well," and proceeded to upload the missing songs.
Now, when I press the camera button to take a picture, the bar across the top (which I assume represents free storage space) its about halfway over.
Is this because the songs that went missing are still taking up space but nothing is able to see it as its not in some index file? If so, how can I reclaim this space. I assume there is a way to reset the phone that would clear it.... but I'd be devastated if I lost my address book.
I guess I'd better start writing down phone numbers....
Lastly, the BitPim website says something about going to its properties menu and selecting the 9800, but the only thing I see in the properties menu is "Disk Storage" and "Com Port"
Edit: the ringtones and wallpaper I use. I can't claim first ownership to any of them, though I "made" them all if you consider chopping someone elses work so it will fit as "making" Is there any way to turn the clock off on the main screen? Its covering up a good bit of flourescence I really should read more of that ×××× manual I guess
