After my in-house flashing with the VZQ firmware, Virgin Mobile screens, logos, and everything else where nowhere to be found on the phone... I'm not sure why after Verizon did it that you aren't seeing an all-Verizon phone now.

    OTA *228 malfunction

In order to use the Over The Air programming you must have a valid Verizon PRL list in your phone. You must check your PRL if it is Verizon one because the flashing usually don't change that. The PRL goes into your phone through loading a QCN file which contains the PRL list. In order to modify the QCN file you must use the KWC PST, posted in this forum.
Anyway, check for the PRL version by dialing 111111 and confirming with OK (enter) It should be something like 50180 or higher. Later, after you execute the *228 operation it may change to something that will fit your location the best.
You can also check your current PRL list by dialing *611 which will call the main wireless directory based on your PRL. The SID number from the QCN file will tell your roaming indicator when to show roaming but has no other functional use.
Flashing the NV memory not necessarily changes logos and other carrier specific stuff. Only complete flashing with a super file (EPROM image) will make a clone of your phone and change it to what you want. That software (SE47tool.exe) was posted here too, the complete image is about 12 Mb and the VERIZON (partial) flash file NS10214.hxb is about 6.5 Mb. So, if you want to make your VM phone to look like a perfect Verizon branded phone you must find one like that and read the flash and write it to yours, after what you have to put back the original ESN because this flashing will change that one too. Good luck.

    Virgin to Verizon

This is my first post here, so please have mercy.

I don't know much about flashing phones, despite reading this thread and trying to understand it.

If I wanted to go from Virgin to Verizon, and I didn't want to configure the phone myself, could I just go to Verizon and have them do it all? I thought I read some people doing that, but wasn't sure if I have to do something first on my end. Thanks all!

If you want to go from virgin to verizon and keep the virgin software on the phone, then it is a fairly easy and painless process.

The step-by-step has beed posted in a few places. If I can dig it up I'll repost it here. A search should find it though.

If the phone has been previously activated with Virgin, then you will need a data cable to make this happen (to unlock the phone). Otherwsie it's just a matter of punching some codes in through the menus.

Ah, okay awesome. So I assume there's no legal issues with doing this? And would the "new Verizon phone" be completely compatible to work on their network (plus or minus some phone specific features)?

Verizon would probably frown upon this, but it's certainly not illegal.

All features work except you can't use 'Get it Now'.

If you want to go all the way - then you need to flash the phone with the Verizon software. Success has varied on this (hence this post I started a few months ago).

If you wanted to do the flash I'd reccomend the Kyocera branded data cable. Though I'm not 100% certain, using a cheaper cable (i.e. radio shack or eBay) may be the root cause of the folks like me who had a failed flash attempt.
