no not really, alot of people think that, we dont tell them it has LD if it doesnt, that isnt good service............we would happily swap or fix a phone if we can, but we cant mess with them ld phones cause if we do we lose our seed stock phone for swapping it out.............
one more thing, we get paid when we fix a phone, we, as in the tech, and we as in the store, and the more phones we fix the more our numbers go up for nextel = hence the reason why we dont want to tell people there phone is liquid damaged, simply cause we get paid to help them outOriginally posted by IlKevinlI

This happens to me all the time. Its unavoidable. Just tell em to not take the phone in the shower next time or to leave it out of their cup holder.
My favorite question is. "How did it get wet?"
Also keep out for the phones with urine/feces damage. I've got horror stories involving those.

Why can't you fix/replace liquid damaged phones?
Man, I'm glad I got the Best Buy replacement plan on mine. I can drop mine (accidentally) into a vat of hot coffee and get it replaced.
Hell, my plan even covers the BATTERY.
Is the NSP really restrictive in what it covers?
oh yeah, people drop it in the ******* all the time, ha ha...........the cup holder thing is classic...........why, i mean, what would compel someone to put a phone in a cupholder than their coffee was in, or even stick the phone in a cupholder NEXT to a cup of coffee or a drink, i mean, before i started fixing phones i didnt do that stuff, just common sense...........and the how did i get it wet, ha ha............i dont know, i dont follow u around all day...........all i know is it got wet somehow...........Originally posted by Shukoroshi

and here is another thing, we do people use their phone in the rain, they go to me, "talking in the rain wouldnt cause that, would it"..............DUH, YES...............
here is a trick for all u techs out there, when i am looking at a phone, and just talking with the customer i ask in a polite manner, "so when was the last time the phone got wet" - believe it or not they confess without thinking, and then BOOM, switch the tables on them, u just got it out of them, cause u can't ALWAYS tell if a phone is liquid damaged because it isnt always that easy....................ha ha, that is just a trick of mine
of course it is, it can only fix or help a customer out if the phone isnt water damaged, or badly physically damaged, like ran over by a car.............anything else though, we can fix, and if we can,t we can swap it out...................Originally posted by jough

and i never heard of that best buy thing u talking bout..........
Best Buy has a 2-year replacement plan that you can buy if you buy your phone from them, and it covers everything but intentional damage. You can get it wet, break the screen, drop it, slam it in your car door, etc., and they'll replace it with a new one.
It even covers the battery, so in a year or so when it starts to hold less of a charge, I'll probably take them up on their replacement offer.
see thats a great idea, but I prefer not to use an accusatory statement with the customers. Then tend to get kinda moody when you do that. :-DOriginally posted by vl-tech

9 times out of 10 bestbuy won't honor their PSP/PRP or if they do honor it they will make you wait weeks to months.
One of the many reasons I stopped shopping there long ago. For more related best buy horror stories the majority involving the replacement/service plans feel free to read http://www.bestbuysux.org/index1.html
Looking for vl-tech, or any nextel tech, or techie of any kind to help me wit this problem that nextel cannot...
A brief description:
*I90c, phone works fine for calls and web/text messages.
*since 7/22 when in my home I cannot use web/TM, or barely due to "network not available" and get EMPTY floppy disc symbol.
*Up until that (for prevous 8 months) I could use TM in my home but it suddenly stopped.
*Any clue...anyone?
In the house do still get service for calls, I have four bars of service most of the time.
*I'm ready to throw this phone...any advice on this problem?
*Have done master resets, browser resets, etc.
THANKS!
How come Nextel cant stand by there associations? Motorola phones seem to get worse everytime a new one comes out and Nextel gets worse about making up for it. Switch to a better company so people like me whose contracts expire soon would resign with them. Their solution this time is for me to send my phone to them and wait 3-5 days for it to be fixed while I wait with no phone in its place. But they said they would credit me the time of not having a phone. Why would I have a phone if I wanted to be credited for not having the phone when a manufacturer defect occurs? I must be stupid for staying a customer, it has to be the reason. The new thing my i730 does is, it doesn't make sounds when I DC all the time and I didn't even get it wet!
Sounds like a problem with the PCH of the serving cell.Originally posted by toesarenumb
