    Cables no drivers

I had a 120c and now got the 710 this morning.

I'm unable to get winxp recognizing the phone via bluetooth or the cable. Am I forced to fork over another $50 or so for the software at verizon? The futuredial software didn't include this phone in the software.

The V710 has version 6 of Motorola's iTAP predictive text input. More information about iTAP can be found HERE.

To listen to MP3s in stereo, use the Motorola MS525 - SYN9870 one touch stereo headset. This was confirmed in an email from Motorola even though it's not listed on Motorola's V710 accessories page (as of the day I posted this). It can be found on Motorola's site HERE.

actually, you can use my original review here:

    Pics: HS810 VS HS820

You might as well keep it in the "'hood" and use my original thread. The V710.org review I posted AFTER the HoFo one when it was requested.

BTW I'm glad it's helped some people - I just wanted to give back because this site helped so much when I got my V525. Now that I got a V710 for my wife's phone I'm hoping the experts can figure out all the mods for this one as well.

    thanks all,

    v710 Email Access...

I believe if you can run any WAP gatewaying software out there (for Linux or FreeBSD, etc), you can configure another Web Session and specify the new gateway, and then interface with some open-source WAP/IMAP reader (there are a few).

    Anyone?

I found Kannel in the ports collection and installed it. The docs aren't very extensive (ie: how to get it running, etc). I'm new to WAP.

The v710 appears to allow for you to set up a different "Web Session" so one might imagine being able to point it to your own gateway -- but from there, I think we'd need another application that would translate the IMAP to WAP-friendly content.... ?

    v710 apps/games

with my vx4400 I could backup .mif files and upload them to my phone with bitpim.
Does anyone know of anyway to upload them to my v710, preferably by transflash?

I haven't installed Kannel on my FreeBSD servers yet. But this should help you as it was what people on T-Mobile used to get a personal WAP gateway:

    http://www-106.ibm.com/developerwork...kannelwap.html

WebSession is basically just the gateway you're using. On the other Motorola VXXX phones, there are Browser shortcuts which is like a bookmark but it will use whatever WAP Session that is marked as default.

    http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...hreadid=437778

credit mespiff for the tip on another thread, I just wrote this guide to hopefully make it easier for people.

Best part is having your custom ringtones while the bt headset is on. . .

    Inflight mode / Game mode?

Are there settings to temporarily power down or disable the v710's cellular/CDMA functions, while still permitting the use of its MP3 player/photo/BREW (gaming) features (theoretically for use on airline flights at times when mobile phone use isn't allowed)?

That is, an "inflight mode" or "game mode only"?

The author claims to have changed the earpiece volume. Lots of detailed secret program code info and more.

    Be careful changing any settings!

You can change the outside LCD color, but it will also change the inside LCD color. No way to change them seperatly.
