thanks man!
After years with SE phones, I bought my first nokia smartphone 7610 and so far so good.
Being a SE veteran, I have a lot of SE BT headsets and now I am trying to get my SE HBH-600 to work with the 7610. I discovered that I can only use the HBH600 when the BT on the 7610 is set to Shown to all mode. Is this a firmware issue of just something that I have to live with?
I generally don't like leaving my phone discoverable by other devices (for security issues) all day long.......
And keeping the phone hidden and manually connecting to the bt headset from the phone is another way but it sort of defeats the convenience factor.......
Any insights are most welcomed on this.....
connect it thru "shown to all" mode, then hide the connection after it connected..there![]()
Thanks for the tip. But I am too lazy to switch the phone to discoverable mode JUST SO the headsets can detect the phone and connect and switch the phone back to hidden. If I am willing to do that, wouldn't it be simpler to just manually connect from the phone to the headset instead?
Besides headsets, I also have car kits installed in cars that I drive and it would be a pain in the neck to manually connect everytime I get in and out from the car......
then yeah..i dont think u'll be able to do what u want, sorry~
i dont think you understand the whole concept at all...Originally posted by marshall_lai

you do not have to switch the phone to "shown to all" on bt, you "search for audio enhancement" in order to "pair" you BT phone to your BT audio device, once pairing is done, everytime you turn ON your HS, the phone will detect it and will immediately connect the HS, same thing with your car kit, once you start your car, your phone will automatically connect to the car kit, that is if they are paired and set for auto connection...
Thanks. But actually I do understand the concept but that is not what I found out that it can do. What you have described is what I used to be able to do with my Sonyericsson phones but not currently with my 7610.
With the 7610, I have already paired with the headset and carkits but when I switch the 7610 to hidden (which is supposed to still allow paired devices to connect), neither my car kits nor my headsets can connect to the phone anymore despite having been paired up previously.
For even my PAIRED headsets or car kits to connect to the phone, the 7610 HAS TO BE in the SHOWN TO ALL MODE. Maybe this is just my phone...... Or maybe this is just SE headsets/carkits with Nokia phones....

i agree with marshall actually...or maybe friedbrains are talking about SE devices..![]()
This has got to be due to the particular way that nokia implemented BT on their devices. These subtle differences are really annoying. I just would have to say that SE devices are slightly better in this area (compatibility with other devices like computers, car kits, etc).......
yes SE has a way stronger BT strengths than nokia..after-all, SE does help in the development of BT as well...
Too bad they can't have equally strong RF...Originally posted by angel_wing0
