    Trouble getting data from VX3200

I have downloaded the USB driver and it is happy. I installed BitPim. I followed the tutorial step by step. But when I try to get the phone data I get an error message (Below).

Any help on sorting out my problem would be appreciated.

uninstall / remove the driver you have already installed

    download this one

    install the driver

BEFORE you plug the cable into the computer

    http://members.driverguide.com/list/...661/index.html

you will have to join, it's free, and NO spam

the driver is listed as USB LG composite CDMA modem

the drivers-file number has several different links with different titles

    but it's the same file

    To: themopedwhiz

I have downloaded the USB installer and installed it using the

drivers for the VX6000. I followed the prompts and plugged the

phone it when I installed it and there is no change in my computer

(I don't get a notice in the lower left hand corner and the device does not show up in the device manager)

I followed your instructions and did not plug the cable in until I had installed the drivers you said to.

    Any ideas. Thanks

you will not get a notice in the corner

they fact that you didn't is good news

    goto my computer, system, ports

it show a new com port #5 ,#7,#9

likely it will also show a yellow ! ( exclamation mark )

meaning there is a confilict of resources with another port

I had to turn off / DISABLE the IR (infared) port that was listed as a com port and using the same resources that com 5 , ( the cable ) needed

on your computer it might be wifi or blue tooth or a wireless mouse,

you will have to look to find out

After reading your post I went to the device manager and looked

under Com & LPT and there were only two devices, Com Port 1

and LPT port 1. This is the problem I ran into before I joined the

forum and was only reading the tutorials was that it said the

prolific device sould show up in either com port or com port 5.

What I need to know, why doesn't a com port 4,5 or any other

number than what I have show in my device manager and if

there is anything I can do to fix this.

    Thanks for all the help

the com port will only show up when the cable is plugged in

turn off the computer, plug in the cable

    and turn on the computer

    then check system,

if the cable doesn't show up, then you have the wrong, driver/phone selected when you did the install

un-install and select a different phone, when you re-install

    Nothing Sends?

I followed JSlice's tutorial: I have a LG Vx3200 phone, the FutureDial Cable #19, i have the drivers working, & BitPim ver. .62 The problem is, first i didn't have the "user" directory, so i added that, then "sound" and "ringer". I then tried added a mp3 ringtone, opening the "download" directory then "dloadindex" and deleted the file brewRingerIndex.map. Then i powered off my phone, then powered on, and there was no ringtone on my phone. Then i opened BitPim again, deleted the mp3 ringtone and followed the same process except using a .mid file
Is there some step i'm skipping? Thanks in advance
I also noticed, then when i try to click Data>Send Phone Data, i get an error say:
    An unexpected exception has occurred.
Please see the help for details on what to do.

do a ggoogle search or search your favorite DL site

    " audacity "

it's free and will make mp3's out of wav or files
