Q. What is a Retentions plan?
A Retentions plan is a discounted or special plan offered to Fido customers who want to cancel their services with Fido.
Q. Does Fido offer Retentions plans?
Yes, they do.
Q. What are the Retention plans that Fido offers?
Fido offers three different Retentions plans. They are as follows:
$10 Retentions Plan
- No minutes included
- Additional minutes @ $0.30/min billed by the second
- SAF included
- Not available on agreement
$15 Retentions Plan
- 50 daytime minutes billed by the second
- Voice Mail included
- SAF included
- Not available on agreement
$20 Retentions Plan
- 100 daytime minutes billed by the second
- Unlimited evening and weekends
- SAF not included
- Available on agreement
Q. Am I eligible for a Retentions plan?
To be eligible for a Retentions plan, you must be a Fido monthly customer for at least 3 months. Prepaid users are not eligible for Retentions plans.
Q. How can I go on a Retentions plan?
Retentions plans are usually only offered to you by a Fido Retentions representative when you want to cancel your services with Fido. The plans are a sort of "last ditch effort" to retain you as a Fido customer. However, you can always try your luck by phoning Fido Customer Service or Fido Retentions and requesting to be put on a Retentions plan.
Q. How do I contact Fido Customer Service or Fido Retentions?
Fido Customer Service Line: 1-888-481-3436
Fido Retentions Line: 1-888-259-3436
Q. Can I get a Fido Agreement with a Retentions plan?
A customer can only go on a Fido Agreement with a monthly plan costing at least $20. Therefore, the $10 and $15 Retentions plans are not eligible for a Fido Agreement, but the $20 Retentions plan is.
Q. If I go on a Fido Agreement with the $20 Retentions plan, am I eligible for a handset at the Fido Agreement discounted price?
Yes. Any customer who signs a new Fido Agreement is eligible for a handset at the Fido Agreement discounted price. For current handsets, please visit http://www.fido.ca.
Q. Can I add additional features to Retentions plans?
Like any normal Fido monthly plan, you can add options (call display, data plan, long distance plan, etc.).
Q. Will I be offered any other freebies when I go on a Retentions plan?
Since Retentions plans are offered as a “last ditch effort” to retain you as a Fido customer, you maybe offered other incentives and freebies. It really depends on the Fido Retentions representative you talk to and also on your account status.
Q. Am I billed any differently on a Retentions plan than on a normal monthly plan?
No, you are not. You will be billed once per month according to your billing cycle.
Hello:
On the $15.00 (SAF included) Retention Plan, if I retrieve Voice-mail messages by using a land-line and phoning #604-618-1123, does this use minutes?
Thanks!
If you access your voice mail via a landline, it will not use your minutes. If, however, you access your voice mail using your cell, it will use your minutes.Originally Posted by GVA mobile guy

Q. What is the difference between Classic City Fido and the City Fido offered by Fido now?
The major difference is that Classic City Fido was an unlimited incoming/outgoing minutes plan for $40/$45 (SAF fee included). While the City Fido now only gives 750/1500 incoming/outgoing minutes for $45/$65. The SAF fee is also included in this price. The other difference is the basic coverage area (See next Question).
Q. What is the difference between the Classic City Fido coverage area and the current City Fido coverage area?
The Classic City Fido basic coverage area is larger than the current City Fido basic coverage area. See below for detailed maps:
City Fido Montreal

Current:
City Fido Toronto

Q. Am I still able to sign up for a Classic City Fido account?
No, the Classic City Fido plan has been discontinued. Those who still have the plan have it honoured by Fido through grandfathering.
Q. Is there any other way for me to get hold of a Classic City Fido account?
Yes, you can still get hold of a Classic City Fido account by doing a TOR (transfer of responsibility) with someone who has the Classic City Fido plan grandfathered. In other words, that other person is giving up their Fido account and you are taking over as the new account owner. (Everything is transferred including the cellphone number of the original owner and any options attached to the Classic City Fido plan)
Q. If I am currently on agreement with a grandfathered Classic City Fido plan, what happens when it is time for me to renew my contract?
When it is time to renew your contract (you'll receive a letter from Fido about 2-3 months prior to your contract expiration), you can renew your agreement and keep all the benefits of your Classic City Fido plan.
However, when you renew, you are not eligible for both an agreement priced handset and having the SAF included in your price plan. You have to choose one or the other. The only exception is for multi-line account holders. They are able to keep the SAF included in their price plan and still get an agreement priced handset.
*This response also applies to the renewal of grandfathered Country Fido plan ($70 Unlimited Calls Anywhere in Canada plan)
Q. What if I don't want to renew my grandfathered Classic City Fido agreement when it is time for me to renew?
Your plan will still be grandfathered and you'll be switched to month to month. However, the $6.95 SAF fee will no longer be included in your price plan.
Q. If I am on a grandfathered Classic City Fido plan, what happens if I want to change my cell phone plan?
You can change to any current plan offered by Fido at anytime. However, once you switch off the Classic City Fido Plan, you won't be able to get it back.
