I have a P900 that is already running the P910 firmware (had it upgraded a couple of months back). I am moving on and plan to sell the phone on eBay, but before I do, I was wondering if it is possible to revert to the original firmware using the SE online update service.

I read quite some time ago that this should theoretically be possible if you used "recovery" mode on the website, but has anyone tried?

I could sell my P900 as it stands, but I think it would appeal to a broader audience if it was a plain vanillia P900. Does anyone have any experience with reverting back to a P900 with 'normal firmware'?

    Thanks for any advice.
I thinked you could sell it better with the upgraded firmware. Market it as being able to use MS Pro up to 1GB. I think that's a plus, but make sure you tell them Bluetooth problem also.

Question Soooo....how has the P900 been working as a P910?

I like the fact that you can use the 256Mb stick....have you tried larger sticks? Any other issues? What about the Blue tooth headset issue?

You can use up to 1GB memory stick pro duo (and possibly larger, though they aren't out yet).

BT headsets still have serious problems (as in, they don't work consistently enough to call them "working"). I don't think this will ever be fixed, unfortunately. Too many differences between the IRMA and Blueberry chipsets...

Thumbs up SO things are great with the phone....

with the P900 cleverly disguised as a P910? If it is as easy as doing a system restore using the P910 firmware instead of P900...it is worth the time to get the bigger playing capacity! Any other issues, problems, benefits, untold surprises?

Igb duo cards are out, sony offer the high speed update that works fine with the flash, and sandisc now offer the 1gb size duo cards. Some memory card readers might need a a firmware flash to support the new pro format on the larger size cards (Sony products, require this) my motion flash works fine. I believe a normal 1gb duo pro sony is following soon (without the highspeed and big price)

The thing is, the P900 and P910 can't take advantage of high speed pro duo cards. They operate at basic (normal) speeds, so it doesn't matter what brand you get - they'll all run at the same speed. However, if you share your memory cards with digital cameras (Sony DSC-T1, for example), then you'll probably want the faster cards, because the camera CAN take advantage of the faster speed.

Unhappy Tried to use the Update Service...SE told me to take a hike

    Hi Anlog:

I tried to cleverly disguise my P900 as P910...using the update service from SE. The website told me to take a hike, saying my service provider does not allow the update. As T-Mobile does not even support the P900 or 910....not sure what the problem was. The device was never a "T-Mobile" device.

How did you access the firmware for the conversion? I want to be able to use the 1Gb stick.....

You can use either Fighter or Cruiser (new product that has replaced Fighter). You get access to firmware files when you buy the software.

The native P910 firmware files will not fit into the flash chips of the P900. The conversion images have been custom-created (and trimmed down) to fit.

Once a phone is converted, you cannot use the update service again (unless the phone is flashed back to a P900).

    Smile P900 on eBay

Believe it or not, you can find some good deals in the local classifieds (or the Recycler, if you have it out there). Also check pawn shops (online and actual stores).

If that doesn't pan out, you can begin your "quest" for a legitimate P900 auction...

I got mine on eBay...shrink wrapped, apparently untouched (either new or someone did a **** fine job of cleaning it. No issues, works fine, all functions. Some issues with T-Monster (see my posts about ICQ, etc.), but all in all...the phone rocks!

This is the latest P910 firmware, but a set of conversion images (different than the stock P910 firmware) has not been created. You are already running the latest P910 conversion.

    DK upgrade

Does anyone know if there's someone in Denmark doing the upgrade.

I tried to contact a swedish company who advertizes the upgrade (www.gsmteknik.se) but they do not reply to my mails.

I'm also interested to know, if I will be able to continue to use the Danish system language in my phone after the upgrade.

I read the entire thread (phew ) and as far as I can see the only problems are with BT headsets, and maybe som FC SMS functions.

Are there any other problems to be aware of ?

    cheers
    Peter
