I seem to the be resident guru for mp3 ringtones and couldn't get to everyone's requests via PM, so here's a guide to help answer most questions. This guide also features screen caps and pictures. Enjoy!

^^ Always use mobile PhoneTools only to upload your ringtones to your phone.

I do everything right, then tell it to encode, and it just sits there 0%. It says doing 0 of 0 files. but when i click on the file in razor lame to play it, its to the specifications that i made it, it just wont save itself.

If anyone wants to custom make an mp3 ringtone from an existing mp3 file just get Xilisoft WMA MP3 Converter. Its a great program and really easy to understand. You can do pretty much anything you want. But if you want to crop parts off a song i suggest a little program called WavePad.

Question What am I doing wrong?

Hello, I've been using this guide for about 4 hours editing my mp3's, but when it's time to encode them it pops up with a message saying it did not find the lame.exe file, so I put the razorlame.exe file in hopes that it would work. I clicked encode and nothing happens, only a new window for razorlame pops up. How can I fix this problem?

Did you even read my guide? It's the very first post in this thread.

You'll need to find an audio convertor program for Macs (i.e. Audacity) that will allow you to control the final bitrate and sampling rate.

Please people, if you're not going to bother to read through this thread and get your questions answered before you post, I'm not even going to bother responding. You're essentially wasting both of our time here if you do so.

If you would have read and looked around a little, you would have seen that a Macintosh version has been available for quite some time.

Not trying to give you (or anyone really) a hard time, but the PM's and silly questions in this thread when they've already been answered, however people being too lazy and just want a super quick response is getting really, really old. Experiment a little; it's okay to make a few mistakes along the way.

I seem to recall a few days/weeks back, a mention on a thread about taking a piece of music and editing it in iTunes. Anyone recall the specifics?

^^ Where have you been? Stereo speakers have been on phones for quite some time now. And besides, what does this have to do with actually making ring tones?
