I came to the same conclusions you did on my own while making my own MP3's with one difference: I set the filter quite a bit higher. I found that, on my V551, if I had frequencies below ~400Hz, the sound would be muddy and even crackly. I set it to 500Hz, and everything sounds crystal clear, loud, and still easily recognizable.
I kinda have to laugh at those on this thread who are trying to load high-bitrate, full-frequency MP3's on their phones. It's not supposed to be a jukebox; it's just supposed to let you know that someone's trying to call. The nice thing about MP3's is just basically so you can have your phone ring differently from the hundreds of other cellphones you might encounter outside.

Däch, good point, and many people forget that fact, but the most requested tones I get are usually as full range as possible, even though the Vxxx series does have trouble reproducing lower frequencies below the 400 even the 500Hz range. Keep it up and keep experiementing with those custom tones!

Sounds to me like you might have set your project rate incorrectly... if you want me to take a look at it, send the wav to ninetoez [ at ] gmail.Originally posted by lilfl9p

GREAT Guide!
Well I must have been flogged with the lucky stick today.
I already knew how to make ringtones but read your page anyway. Let me tell you, it helped. I use soundforge so it was kinda hard to figure out what you were saying sometimes. Before I made my tones 56kbps at 22.5khz in joint stereo. My most recent ones were around 130k for 20 second files. What I did after reading your way was to combine both channels into MONO with a 200hz high-pass filter and make the files at 32kbps at 22.5khz. They sound EXACTLY the same but are half the size at around 65k. Thank you man.
i love poon!
Followed Ninetoez instructions (BTW, most excellent step by step!!!).
Original *.wav was mono, audio sample rate was 11025 rate, so I kept it the same (higher was too fast), bit rate used was 32kb ...final razorlame encoded *.mp3 was 2 secs, 14 kB.
Copied to V180 using MPT 3.19e, selected as ringer, but no sound....any pointers??
Thanks in advance
I'm guessing it's either your phone, or it's the sampling rate that needs to be corrected. Send your file to ninetoez [ at ] gmail and let me have a look at it for you.
Where could i upload a mp3 online and download it to the phone?
ole_n00bian, it was your sampling rate; it didn't match and I corrected it for you... check your email.![]()
Try www.3gupload.com or a free host with "hotlinks" where you can get a static URL to the file such as www.35mb.com.Originally posted by mrmet3130
