Horrible service in the area im at, is there a way to cancel and get the fee waived?
ive been here at college at purdue for 4 weeks now. i hardly get anyservice. if im in any building i get no bars, my phone is in powersave mode 99% of the time. If i complain will verizon waive my cancelation fee if i return the phone? i love the phone, but service SUCKS. or is there any way i could try and figure out how to get better service on my phone? its an sch 670.
If you are over your 15-day trial, then no you are stuck for the length of your contract. A few people who have complained enough and talked to the right people at Verizon have gotten out of contract early, but don't count on it.
Ageed: If you are past your 15 day trial, your pretty much gonna be SOL...UNLESS you are in an area where VZW themselves knows there isn't service. Typically if you can prove to VZW that your phone doesn't work (by a lack of call activity) and that it's not the equipment (Latest PRL, phone not malfunction)...you might have a shot.

Originally posted by heisman I get full signal strength @ Purdue. It has to be your phone. Demand a new one (maybe go with a tri-mode) ASAP.
i live in owen, it will randomly get me no bars in my room, but i have to walk outside to talk, and then i have random times where i will loose service on campus. most buildings i do not get service in.
I'd try to find a friend who also has verizon and take both phones into places you know dont work very well for you. If his/hers works, and yours doesnt, then you know its a problem with your phone.
But there really isnt any way to get out of the contract. There are only 4 ways out without paying:
1) You move to a location where VZW doesnt have service. (according to their map).
2) Change of financial responsibility, if you can find someone else who will take responsibility of the remainder of your contract.
3) If verizon changes the agreement without your consent. (if they change the price without asking, etc.)
4) You die.
