In other words, analog is as good as dead. You really think the carriers will pour money into mainting analog equipment for the next five years? No they didn't, the requirement to have two analog carriers using a set amount of frequency in all areas with analog coverage is the only thing that's changing, the carriers will have the option to decrease the amount of spectrum used for analog, or one carrier (or both if they wanted two) have the option of dropping out analog service in an area, which isn't an option now. No where does it say analog has to be phased out.
