Motorola V600 back plate fit/finish issue and belt clip accessory ?
I just purchased a Motorola V600 from T-Mobile. I noticed that the back metal plate doesn't exactly align itself flush with the seam (especially on the side of the antenna stub) and there is a bit of a gap between the body and the cover. I'm guessing that the round rubber grommet is pushing up against the cover and not allowing it to sit flush with the body. Is this normal? I'm asking because if it is, I won't waste time trying to exchange for another one.
Also, my former Motorola T720 came with a belt clip as an accessory yet the V600 did not. Does Motorola sell it as an optional accessory? If they do, where would I get it? And what about a protective case?
I'm new to GSM phones and SIM cards. Is it good practice to save things on the phone or the SIM card or both? Is there a sync feature to keep both on the same page? And lastly, do roaming charges only apply when you're out of T-Mobile's coverage area and you get a call or place a call, or do you get charged for just having the phone on in roaming areas as well?
The V600 back battery cover doesn't fit tightly like it should. I made mine look better by bending the metal plate little by little till it fit better. If you do try this, bend it a little bit and try to see if it fits better; if not, bend it a little more.
For the sim card, it is best if you do save your phone numbers on your sim so that if you had to reset your phone, you don't erase your numbers. Plus if you do buy another phone, you already have the numbers on the sim card so you wouldn't have to enter each one in one by one.
Thanks - I opened up the back cover and took out the SIM card to see how it looks like. It seems very fragile - are these cards reliable for storing memory for a long period of time? It would suck to lose all of my contacts in one fell swoop.
Anybody on the belt clip, protective case, or roaming question?
You can also use Phone Tools to sync your names and numbers to your Outlook on your computer... You can always re-sync your phone if you don't want to take the time to individually save the names to the SIM... Also... I think you can't use voice dial for names saved to the SIM... Only to the phone!
For me, it would kill two birds with one stone as it doubles as a belt clip. Does anybody have this one? Any other recommendations on cases or belt clips?
THIS is what I bought... And you can't beat the price. It's made out of neopreme and grips the phone well. It also protects it from scratching. I also bought a leather Moto brand case with a strap... But the V600 was swimming in it. This case will let the phone fall out if you bounce with it on upside down... But other than that it works well. I was thinking about getting this stuff I saw at Radio Shack. It's a rubbery backing you stick on the back of your cell phone that stops it from sliding around on your dashboard. I would imagine that putting a strip of that on the back of the phone would hold it securely anywhere.
Thanks for the recommendation - what about belt clip holsters, do you have a recommendation for that? Anybody else? A case/clip combo like the one I linked above, does anyway have something like that? Thanks for the help.

I feel for you on trying to find a decent belt clip, I've been trying, but from what I hear, all the ones that are not case/clip combos fall out of the clip.
In answer to the first question - I would say its better to save your contacts to your phone not sim. Saving to the sim means you cannot use many features like voice dialling, second numbers, email address's etc.
Sim cards are limited and can only hold much less than the phone can and can break just as easily as the phone! Numbers are just as safe on the phone as long as you dont do a master clear! If u need to reset the phone, then simply copy them using the copy command to the sim card, and then copy them back afterwards.
As for the case, you should try a half case. They are similar to a regular case, except they only cover the back half of the phone, so it looks like ya phone is on a belt clip, but its more secure as the main bulk of the phone (the back) is securly held.
