    Unhappy Ruh-Roh! .55r upgrade failure! <HELP>

Okay, I've been running a v400 with 4AR for some time. Also using the engineering flex.

I've got MSS 3.5.2 running perfect on a USB cable, and it all communicates good.

I downloaded the 55R and it started out fine. Said it was reading the file, sent the bootloader, and then gave this error message:

    {Critical Error!} Error: Invalid Address

I can power on the phone and it gives the following data:

    Boot Loader: 07.60
    SW Version: ...4AR (still)
    MEM_MAP Blank
    Service Req'd
Ok to program.... )blah blah blah(

Anyone got an idea?!?! I've tried to re-download and extract the file just to be sure it wasn't corrupted. It's 13.9Mb, and it's date is 8/4/2004.

    ACK! Help.

    FIXED!

Well it looks like 3.5.2 doesn't like the 55r file. I changed over to the 3.5.8 version and it finished!

55R went smoothly on my V600, so I haven't encountered your problem, but your best bet is to try again.

Hold the * and # keys while powering the phone on and Windows should recognize it and load the right USB drivers. Then run MSS again and reflash it.

If that fails, you can try to reflash 45R or 4AR, but I'm worried that if the new bootloader installed fully, it might not let you back flash the earlier versions. In that case, all you can do is hunt around for a version of 55R that works.

Try again and let me know what happens. I'll have a look on some other forums I'm subscribed to and see if anyone else has encountered the problem.

I'm glad! I was beginning to think you were stuck between a rock and a hard place, unable to go forward or back.

    Good job!
