I'm not familiar with your phone.
The software, not the phone is what has proxy support. Most of these folks with smarphones are using 3rd party apps (like opera) that can use proxies for web browsing.
For me, my beloved Verichat wants different ports for each IM client (examply: 5190 for AIM). Now each of these IM clients works on other ports or through proxies on whatever port, but the software itself doesn't support proxies, so I'm up the creek there unless I pony up for access to all ports (IE: 19.99 internet / VPN internet plans).
The man in the picture above is the first person ever to make a cellular call.
I am trying to use WebViewer... however I don't believe it has a proxy setting. Can i get opera for my sony erricson t610 (regular phone not a pda or anything). It supports java/wap.

Webviewer will not work. There is no way to change settings in it. why not just buy a cheap PPC? four times the screen size, internet explorer, no out of memory pages like with a small phone. Best part is it will work with your t610, since it has bluetooth.

I don't work for T-Mobile I'm the one who came up with using T-Mobiles proxy and the settings thank you. floepie figured out the correct port to use for his HTML browser. http://howardforums.com/showthread.p...5&pagenumber=3
Let me restate. Tethering with my SMT-5600 as the modem with my laptop will not work. I haven't tried BT.
I'm already using a mobile version of IE so I don't doubt that a pocketPC is working.

BT is working fine also from my laptop/a630, I just tried it. Dunno why a wired connection doesnt/wont work for you in the same situation. Modem string possibly?
I am tethering with a Samsung E315 and I can't get access. All I did was use the proxy settings mentioed earlier and made sure manual overide was on. WAP still works OK though. ???
In IE, the proxy settings under "LAN Settings" don't apply to dial up connections (read the fine print). You have to set up the proxy settings for the individual dial up connection. Doing this is pretty easy so I will not include directions, but if requested I will.
As far as Firefox goes though. I'm not sure. The proxy settings seem to be all inclusive (both LAN and dial up) but with this IE revelation it may not apply to dial up connections. Anyone know how proxies work with Firefox?
On the other hand, I may have been the only one who didn't figure this all out in the first place.

Your wrong there is a way to change the setting in Webviewer. First open webviewer, click on more. Click on settings, click more again. Now go to advanced and change your port to 8080...

Tethering does work.
Here's how it works:

PPC is the same. IE works fine if you change the settings in "connections". However if your using Netfront, you MUST also change the proxy settings in the browser, besides settings in connections. Microsoft is funny sometimes.
Umm, my 910a is working with Opera and my HandyDay weather update *without* having the 19.99 internet plan now. I switched back to the tzones for 4.99 a week or 2 ago, and the internet plan I had for a whole day or two was cut off...
Now everything works through my Tzones GPRS connection...
