I used to use Opera on my old Nokia 6600 and S-E P900, but when the free internet stopped, I just didn't bother to add T-Zones.

I recently got a S-E K700i and got the Wap, Internet, and Picture Messaging set-up from the S-E web-site. I was suprised when I was able to access Howardfourms via WAP, Access http web pages, and get and send e-mail. This is without T-Zones. The web pages are not really too workable due to the screen size, but I would expect that the Opera browser would work fine again. I have not changed any ports, etc from the settings S-E sent to the phone.

Agile and IM+ for the most part require use of the specific IM client's ports. AIM is the exception and can be used on pretty much any port you have open.

Hey, I just noticed that the OTA t-mobile sent me to configure t-zones uses port 8080. I always thought it was port 9201. Basically, my point is that the proxy settings mentioned above match the settings t-mo sent me for t-zones. Yet, when I don't use the proxy settings above in opera, I can't access webpages that I can when I am using the proxy. Can someone enlighten me?

You're a genius! Opera now works beautifully on my Nokia 6600 using t-zones. Kudos!

I mention this in another post in the smartphone forum, but for whatever reason, the smartphones do not tolerate .050 as the last octet in the IP. You must enter it as .50. This shouldn't really matter, but there you go.

    Ok, what's the point here?

I just switched to Tmobile with the SDA and have the $5.99 Tzones plan. I installed opera and right away was able to browse web sites. There were no options for proxies in it and I didn't seem to need them. So what am I missing here? What's the difference between the $19.95 plan and the Tzones plan? My phone seems to get to everything just fine as is. Could someone clue me in here?

You can insert a proxy server address in the .ini file. I made mention of this in one my posts... (Opera and 3rd party....)

previously T-Zones did not allow any open ports as it restricted you to which ports you could use, my guess is that Opera automatically checks for the proxy when you first launch it (the config process). Are you able to pull up everything with the standard IE browser on the phone?

    Tzones and proxy

I spoke too soon. Now all of a sudden I can't make any connections at all. No Internet access, no 3rd party apps are making their connections (weather, etc.). I have no idea what is going on. But it seems to check my email ok.

The opera that I installed on my phone doesn't have an option for proxies or anything of the sort. Did I just install the wrong version?
