Verizon's Vs Nonverizons S/W Please help

I am getting a V710 for verizon and I have a few questions. What versions will allow me to transfer rings/pics with the tf card including non verizon flashes? Are there also any flashes that allow rings/pics to be transfered through data cable?

The original firmware (currently 1.30.8f) will allow transferring ringtones and pics via the TF card. You will also be able to transfer them via usb cable using BitPim program. No flashing is required.

I have used bitpim in the past for my lg vx6000 but I would like to if it works to use Motorola Product Tools. Is that also possible? If not does the rings tab work for the v710 for bitpim or will I have to view the filesystem and go into a specific folder?

You cannot use mpt with the 1.30.8f original S/W to transfer media (just to sync). This is discussed in the FAQ sticky thread if you'd like to read about it.

And, yes, with BitPim you will need to view the filesystem and copy files to the mms (TF card) or the motorola > shared > pics (or audio) folders

When you use BitPim to view the filesystem, "motorola" is just one of the diretories/folders.

Sorry, I meant "mmc" not "mms".
In the filesystem tree, the TF card shows as "mmc 1" (on mine, at least). The pics and videos can be placed right in the top level of that, or in the mmc 1 > motorola > shared > picture (or video or audio or ringtone)

The pics and audio using V710's internal memory will in the filesystem tree under motorola > shared > picture (or video, audio, ringtones)

The mms folder contains your sent/received mms messages
