Thumbs up Comcast increasing speeds at no additional cost!

I actually read something about Comcast that didn't suck. They're upgrading both tiers of their cable internet service and they're not increasing prices... yet.

    Current plans:

3 mbps downstream / 256 kbps upstream for $42.99 per month
4 mbps downstream / 384 kbps upstream for $52.99 per month

    New plans:

4 mbps downstream / 384 kbps upstream for $42.99 per month
5 mbps downstream / 768 kbps upstream for $52.99 per month

They have promos and specials all the time so it's pretty easy to never pay full price. Right now I'm paying $19.99 per month for six months for the 3/256 tier. I could have done the higher tier for $29.99 but I didn't think it was worth it. If I can still get that promo now with 768kbps upstream that would be awesome. We'll see.

Verizon Online DSL os offfering free speed upgrades, and price drops

Now, 3mbps down / 786 kbps up will only cost you $29.99 a month, plus a free wireless router/modem. Only in the NYC metro market.

Verizon- We never stop working for you

I worked for a Verizon DSL reseller for about a year. It was their network and their bandwidth and their provisioning, we just provided the IP addresses, e-mail, webspace, and phone tech support. The quality of service and support I witnessed from Verizon's end was astonishingly horrible. The only way I would ever consider going to DSL is if cable was not available where I lived.

    Verizon- They never started working.

I was just thinking today if I should go to cable, the price I pay for DSL just went up to $52.99 and I have 1.5 down/768 up, I got it when DSL had JUST came to the area, cable has only been here a short time and its spread isn't huge, I will have to look into getting it next week...

Dial-up is good since it's cheap. Big lots and steve and barry's are good too since they too are cheap. Cheap is awesome, and god bless thrift.

I'm happy with my SBC Yahoo DSL. No Complaints even though they are not the fastest. I don't trust Comcast since our cable is always going out (a few times a month).

    Cable is elite!

5/1 for $45 CAD + $80 modem? how could you not go wrong?

problem with dsl, is that you're too far from the dslam, or the rdslam in your block is already full..

now when adsl2 starts to roll out, that's a different story but then again, there's docsis 2.0..

I've got the same service and price in DC. Its great. About 5 minutes of total downtime last year (not counting the little screw up while switching speeds) and it keeps getting better. Soon I'll have FIOS with 15/15 for 49.99/month. They haven't installed it yet in my neighborhood.

Also DSL is better than cable. This is a proven fact, cable is a line from each house connected to a hub which then goes to the main box. DSL is a line straight from the house to the Central Office. With cable, the more people using it in your neighborhood the slower it is, and if you complain about the speed they won't do anything. With DSL if your not getting close to 90% of the advertised speed you can call them up and get them to test your line and even route a new, fresh line for you.

Also Comcast blocks ports and monitors your downloads. Verizon doesn't give a ×××× about what your doing.

    Please don't sue me peterbrowne!
