Enhanced voicemail paging, info I'd like to share:

hey everyone. I just got off the phone with networking and wanted to share this info since I never knew it and figure it would help others:

Now, on top of the Paging feature, Enhanced voicemail also provides:
    • more message storage, 25 messages with 10 day storage
    • skip password(4,2,1,2) so you don't have to enter your PIN when calling from your cell
    • instant callback/call return of the person who left the message (8 while listening to message)
    • Group messaging, send a single VM to 25 people
    • paging (outcall notification)*

*when you have enhanced voicemail, you have an option that I call "paging". What this means is that when somebody calls you they can press 5 before the beep and you will get a sms with text containing that person's callback #, hence a page.
it's a great system and it even uses CALLID so that person doesn't have to manually key in the number like the Fido offering.

here's where it gets interesting.. for about 2 weeks my paging stopped working.. today i finally called in and got it fixed, but i found out that I was the one who "broke" it, here's what I mean:

enhanced voicemail has a feature called "outcall notification" now being in cellular for a while I mistakenly thought this was like back in the analog days where you'd get a phonecall saying "you have a new message" it turns out that outcall notification is actually the paging system i described above.

    so, try this out..
    everyone who has enhanced VM
go into your VM and put your password
then press "4" for personal options and "1" for outcall notification
turn outcall notification ON then follow the promts and exit your VM.

now call yourself and when you hear your greeting, press 5 and you shojuld hear "your callback # is xxx-yyy-zzzz" press # to send that, you'll get a SMS page momentarily.

I love this feature cause it gets rid of the "hey Treatz, it's carsmovies, I bought my 7th 6230b, call me back" and instead gives a page.. much more convenient.

    happy paging people

I know you don't have to enter your number for call back but does it have an option if you want to be called at a different number?

Yes you will get prompted after you select the page option if the number you are calling from is correct.
