there is an actual feature of enhanced VM that allows the password to be skipped if you're calling from your own handset (it uses call id) your method is convenient, but it still contains the password in the dial string and enters it

    everyone who has enhanced VM
go into your VM and put your password
then press "4" for personal options and "1" for outcall notification
turn outcall notification ON then follow the promts and exit your VM.

now call yourself and when you hear your greeting, press 5 and you shojuld hear "your callback # is xxx-yyy-zzzz" press # to send that, you'll get a SMS page momentarily.
Doesn't work for me, and I disabled and re-enabled notification to test also. No SMS for me.

850mhz was a must for Rogers Wireless, but now it has became a plus for GSM Canada!

**** that carsmovies....he's depleating the 6230b stock quicker than they can be imported! why's he going through so many anyways?

Can somebody clarify this for me? I currently have Enhanced VM on my old V60, but I'm looking to switch to Basic VM, since I don't use any of the extra features. The only thing I want is the Message Waiting Indicator on my phone, and Rogers CS has always told me that I need Enhanced VM for this functionality.

So I go to the online Rogers FAQ, and see two conflicting statements:

    1. "...Visual Message Waiting Indicator (also known as new voicemail message waiting alerts) is included on the following voicemail services:

    - Customers with Enhanced Voicemail service on TDMA and GSM devices
    - Customer with Voicemail on GSM devices (not available with Voicemail on TDMA devices)
    - Voicemail on Pay As You Go plans"

So according to bullet #2, I should be ok with Basic VM...then I read this response to another question

    2. " <Visual Message Waiting Indicator> Service is included with subscription to any Essential Value packs which include Enhanced Voicemail."

So which one is correct? Can I get an indicator with basic VM on a GSM phone?

The message waiting alert is the SMS message you get (not all handsets actually get the message, I know a lot of V600's don't)

The indicator is the actual message icon on your phone.

The FAQ is just poorly worded.

What's REALLY weird is my parent's and my brother's account has a corporate plan.

And the CSR saids they have Enhanced Voicemail, but they dont have the skip password or paging function...

BUT, they get the message icon on the phone.

    Super very weird!
    Hi.
