    Lightbulb Verizon Wireless PTT

Please use only this thread for discussing PTT. Informative, on-topic and constructive discussion only. Flaming and inter-carrier flame wars will close it.

I am wondering , even if PTT was release today, how long before it would pick up steam? 2 years, 3 years? Reason I ask is because many people feel verizons PTT will compete with nextel, although they forget the fact that when you sign up for nextel, you get a PTT phone. So for this PTT to take off to anything serious AT LEAST half of 42 million people will need to get it.

Also, I heard that PTT from verizon would have a pre pay plan to compete with Nextel's Boost mobile. Who will buy a PTT pre-pay from verizon, if not 1 verizon customer has a PTT phone yet? In other words, since no one has a PTT phone, how in the world is verizon going to release this system? Andhow is verizon going to make it attractive to make people pay for PTT when they already have free "IN" calling?

Frail this was a good idea. There were so many other different threads on PTT that discussed many of the same things. I am one who is eligible for my NE2 in March(actually now for it is 22 months). When PTT first came out a few of the guys at the Sheriff's office and Police Department got them. At first they liked them alot but then realized they were dreadfully slow and basicly said they "sucked". I was just in to my new contract on a regular phone so I did not get in on the PTT then. I guess this was a good thing. Now with the re-launch and the fact that the PTT is like adding a feature such as text messages and others and is only 10 dollars more a month I am gonna consider getting PTT with my NE2. Now I may wait a few months and see how it goes and also try to get a few of the guys I work with at the PD to consider them as well. If they work alot better that is the route I may go but then again the regular VX8000 that is coming soon or even the future VX8100 sounds good too. So many decisions

hmmm, another good question. From what I understand nextels PTT(direct connect) can be used just about everywhere, is this the going to be the case with verizons PTT, or will it only work in places where you have 1x service? I noticed the maps and I was wondering if PTT would be the same map or will it be smaller?

To those whose off-topic posts were removed: What was discussed in previous threads will not continue here. Let it go and do not resurrect those conversations. Last chance for this thread.

All I know is that I called VZ 2 min ago and the dude who answered (and also confirmed with one of his lackies) said that PTT was already re-released and that I should wait for the new phones.

He also said that it might work on the EVDO network. Of course, this is wrong and he is wrong and it's another example of total and absolute ignorance.

The V65p is on the 1x network. This discussion is nice but you all know it's pretty much useless. Until PTT is on EVDO, it won't work like we want it to.

Of course, I will be checking it out. I could be wrong and it might rock the house. I remember a long time ago, I was happy as a pig in ×××× when the first PTT came out. I sold my soul to the devil and it was the worst thing imaginable.

So, I'll be cheesy and ask again: When is this thing being re-released? Any word on V65p? And is it worth it since it's on the soon-to-be old network?

i just got off the phone with verizon myself and they said that corp. wont tell them anything about the PTT because theyll tell us!!! so the guy lied to you!! i could be happy with it right now, its working pretty good, and pretty quick! again the relaunch is suppost to be either 2/21 or 2/23???? and the v65p might be out in march!!! i do believe that the problem with the PTT in general is the software in the phones, so hopefully the new phones have real good software to improve the service.

We're fully aware of who said what in previous threads. The statement posted by Moderator HF 9 applies to all so that what happened in previous threads is not repeated here. Let's keep this thing on topic.
