And would the average customer know what a software update is?

They are going to close this post if the focus doesnt get back to PTT.
I understand that there wouldnt be much convo going on if all we talked about were the positive aspects of PTT but they are going to close this thread up if we dont ignore MBA's attacks on your opinions.

attacks, you must not know the meaning??? iam defending the new PTT .07 against people who dont know what there talking about, if you call that a attact, your on something, remember i had this from day one and it was terrible!!! now i still have it and its done nothing but improve! thats all iam talking about. i hate when people get on here and always bring up the past, well guess what ? the past is GONE!!! this is the future! and verizons PTT has done nothing but improve!! and my guess that the new phones with the new software should be great! no not nextels speed but pretty close!! and thats cool for me, and will be for alot of other people! attacks NO! defending YES!

To get this back on track I have a couple a questions about the new PTT .

    1. Do calls still go to voice mail while on a PTT session?
    2. While on a PTT session if it does go to voicemail will you be notified of a voice mail or text messages?

That was one of my biggest problems with it was the fact there was no notification of voice mail while on PTT. So if you’re on it for 20 mins and someone needs to get a hold of you then you SOL. I’m on call 24-7 so I cant afford to miss important voice mails.

Okay I will kinda change the topic just a bit from the battle going on It has been said when PTT is "re-launched" it will be 10 more a month and it will be like adding a feature right? So do you think it would be possible to buy a 4700 PTT and not actually activate the PTT on it till later? Reason being it will give me some time to try and talk a few people into getting the PTT service and like I said in my previous post many of my friends are only one year into a 2 year contract. I do have one friend who is also due his NE2 however he is leaning towards Southern Linc mainly because many of the guys he works with have them. I will have to try and change his mind. Myself on the other hand am due my NE2 as of March and I need a new phone due to having phone issues as we speak. The 4700 looks to be very similar to my 4400 (color inner screen and non color outer display) and I love my 4400 even though after 2 years I am having a few aggravating signal issues. I figure it would be right for me.

ok while on a PTT call you will get a envelope on the top that let you know you just got a voice or text message, so then you can hang up and listen to your voice or look at your text message, so to me thats ok!!

I've combed through this thread but failed to locate any useful information concerning push2talk.. such as answers to

Whens the expected relaunch date? It was originally sometime in February. Has it changed?

At last check, 4 handsets were coming out for it. A Motorola V65P is said to be released in March while others were scheduled for release the end of February.

Seems to be a lot of uncertainty about the feature cost. Is it $10? $15? Unlimited? Etc.

How are the LG phones with signal strenghth? I know that my wife and I can be in the same vehicle at the same time with here Kyocera and my Moto and have two different signal strenghts. The kyocera having less signal. We wanted to get the same phone( PTT if it ever relaunches ) due to the fact of having different home and car chargers like we have now. Should we wait on the elusive v65p or go with the LG ? Thanks in advance for the info.

Its 4PM PST as recently as 3 hrs ago I was told it will definately launch before end of Feb 05. they are targetting 3rd week. Still don't know how much they have not set a firm price yet. The hold up seems to be getting the handesets shipped out andstill a million questions they don't have answers for.

Lets hgope this goes better than the 1st adn 2nd launch adn it works. I fear if it doesn't we will see the end of PTT adn VZW.

any thoughts on PTT being relaunched in all markets at once or top 30 like EVDO? i'm in a market where the switch does not yet support EVDO and i'm hoping we don't get overlooked on PTT as well.

MBA, Thanks for the reply. My main concern is the reception. I have been a die hard Moto person due to the fact of using work radios, pagers etc at work. I just want to pick up the phone and know that I have the best reception I can. I travel alot and so does my wife and would not want to be on the side of the road wishing I would have spent an extra dollar or two to get better reception.
