Whew finally finished reading all 19 pages of this thread and nobody has offered a solution to this problem. Are DtechSIB and I the only people who have come across the above issue. Does it even matter in the Motokit big picture? ie just can't read the descriptions otherwise the prog works OK?

I especially noticed this problem you mentioned....my problem however, is that I didn't pay attention to where the default location for back-up was? so now that I'm trying to follow your advice..I dont' know where it is? help?

I realized that my initial problem in getting my phone connected/synced with motokit was that you have to point the installer to the folder for motokit...it'll find all the drivers it needs in there. it's eithe the root one or the driver one.

v300 nothing fancy modified., just deleted images/mod'd startup/shutdown/continuous screen...that's it...engineering menu although i dont' know what that does. oh and data counters...I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE'S ALL THAT AVAILABLE..and those criminal phone companies default lock it out so you are clueless as to how big your bill will be at the end of the month!!!

1/hey, I just mod'd the start-up/shut-down....do you still see the motorola flower even with mod'd images? or did I miss a step?

2/I haven't had any black screen probs. or any other probs come to think of it.

However it doesn't work fully with RAZR V3 (US Congular 57R flex). For example, Motokit cannot open the engineering menu of V3 properly. Motokit messed-up the right softkey (originally it is AIM, Motokit makes it MESSAGES when I tried to open the Enginerring menu). Also, Motokit reads the last digit of IMEI as "X". I found a few other minor stuffs, but cannot recall them now.

Will you consider writing a version of Motokit exclusively for RAZR V3? RAZR is somewhat different from VXXX.

does the original splashscreen still appear for a couple seconds before switching to your custom one?

cuz that's what's happening for me?

is there a short-cut within motokit that I missed?

and how in God's name did you figure out which of the ringers where what? in motokit., they all have meaningless names...which btw aren't the same as what is displayed in my phone.

lastly, is there a way in MOTOKIT., to modify what the outer lcd screen says when the phone is CLOSED? or just open?

1. AFAIK, original splashscreen is embedded in the phone's hardware = CANNOT be removed ! [only thing you can do is change the colour from orange to blue I believe]

2. There is a thread in HOFO that defines all the ringer names. Do a search for "deleting locked files" or similar.

3. Again, AFAIK, there is no way to change the outer LCD when flip is closed. The closest you will get is when you power up the phone and close the flip right away, it will show your custom display for a few seconds.

MotoKIT is a great tool. But that's all it is, a convenient way to customize your phone utilizing basically some of the seem editting knowledge gathered over time. Don't expect it to perform tricks you've never seen before.

Also be very careful using motokit. It can be great for some and totaly distructive for others.

so what your saying is that everyone who has a custom startupshutdown., sees a snippet of the original before their own kicks in?

what's with xlr8's info about disabling the main seem...I don't know much about that...so it's not that clear..but from what his notes say...you guys are incorrect?

Yes, everyone sees a snippet of the HELLOMOTO startup before their custom startup graphics 'kick in'.

xlr8's info on disabling the MOTO startup does not disable the 'snippet' in question, only allows you to see your custom startup following the snippet as oppose to the original startup.

The Splash screen with the yellow flower & HELLMOTOon it is built into the HW and it isn't comming off no matter what. xlr8's guide only states in changing it from yellow to blue. Now there is Motorola wakeup gifs that are different that can be shut off if not shut off by the provider. But the Splash Screen stays

I just revisited the problem with list==>icons and vice versa....my problem is that I didn't do a flex...I just did some manual mods...so when I tried to do a BREAK FLEX...nothing was listed..because there WUZ NONe.

any ideas? how to return my menu to icons.

oh...and I really don't understand seem editing...I'm trying to read it but I'm lost where to start. boohoo.

Look for P2KTools,
Alot more user friendly.
It has alot of straight forward functions. Like gain table editing, custom outer screen name, and such.

For the the menu icon thing go to: Personalize> Main menu> hit select and choose Icons. That's how it is on my phone atleast

I don't think that's what he's talking about. I believe his problem is that no matter if he chooses LIST or ICONS, the menu shows as LIST.

Again, there is tonnes of threads regarding this issue. And it all comes down to the number of menu items you have. Anything other than exactly 9 items, you will only see LIST.

So if you were messing with MotoKIT, sure enough you probably tried the VIDEO/ENGINEERING script...and ended up with 8 menu items. You say you read this entire thread, well I'm sure I mention here in one of my posts that you should avoid this script as it will mess up your menu.

What you can do is either try uploading original/working MMA files back to the phone OR use "P2K Menu Editor" to add/remove main menu items to achieve exactly 9. Also make sure 'ANIMATION' is OFF.

Please let's try to post non-motokit related issues in other/new threads and keep this on topic.

This is the first programme I have ever used for the E398 without having to instal MPT or even PST. It works flawlessly. Good Work people. I will never again spend 6hrs installing before accessing my phone files!
