can someone plz help me to find out which Bitpim version i need to use in order to send video files *from* my LG VX8000 *to* the computer, so i can back them up...
thanks,
az
the latest version 7.30
once in the program, with your phone connected of course, go to the File System tab/Brew/Media you'll see an existing 3g2 file. Right click on it to Save or Overwrite (add something of your own).
I copied and pasted this info below from someone else.
good luck.
Video:
Here are the steps
*record something, for like a second. It doesn't matter.
*Download something in Avi. format (or convert video to avi)
*Now if it’s not Avi. format and you need a program to convert whatever file to Avi. then this is what I recommend.
" STOIK Video Converter 2 "
Pictures:
*Take a certain picture of whatever
*Save it, then use BitPim.
*Go to the “dload” tree
*Then open the “img” tree
*Then find that picture you just took, and right click on that file.
*Select “overwrite” and replace it with the picture you want.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Music/Ringtones:
*In ringtones, click on “record new” and record whatever.
*Go into BitPim and open up the “dload” tree.
*Then open up the “snd” tree
*Find that voice recording you did, and right click on it.
*Select “Overwrite”
*Find your ringtone and select it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Music/Tunes:
For your mp3 player in the phone this is a little more difficult than putting ringtones on.
*First go into your BitPim and click on the “dload” tree
*Then the first file you see is “aod.dat” DELETE IT (this refreshes every restart)
*Now close the “dload” tree and open the “brew” tree
*Look near the bottom and you’ll see the “shared” tree, open it.
*Now open the “aod” tree.
*Right click on the “aod” tree and click on “New File”
*Find the Mp3 you want and upload it.
*Now once you finished uploading, restart BitPim and your phone. Then do the whole process over again.
(Now you can upload any mp3 at any quality. All my mp3s are 128, but that is taking up a lot of space, so I’m considering reloading them at 64.)
(Also if you upload something BIG like I have the 7 minute Metallica – One song there, if you upload a large song like this and you noticed your BitPim is probably frozen. Just unplug your phone and restart BitPim and your phone, and you’ll notice the is on there)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is also a real good site to download and put into your phone 3gp movies here:

I am able to receive large 3gp videos (130kb and greater) on my VX7000 that I send to it by email from my computer. My friend that has a VX8000 can't receive the same files when I email them to his phone. His account is set up for PIX/Flix and he can receive videos I send to him from my phone. Is the VX8000 limited to the size of a video it can receive from email, while my vx7000 is not limited? Has anybody else tried this? what size files are you emailing to your phone? Anyone have similiar problems?

hey guys,
I need some urgent help w/ my 8k, it fell in a puddle of water..and it hasnt been turning on, all that happens is a white screen comes up, and the verizon sign, and thats it...any suggestions on how to fix this? I also tried getting a new phone from Verizon, but unfortunately, the warranty doesn't cover what happened to my phone. Please get back to me as soon as possible.
thanks,
az
Put it to dry .. remove backing and battery ... leave open as if you were talking on the phone .. best place is on top of a towel over the heater ... Also I wouldn't have told verizon a thing and just said phone doesnt work .. Thast what insurance is for .. its in case shyt happens . And quite frankly ... Shyt just happened ...

I successfully added my first MP3 tune following the insructions on the first page of this thread:
==========
==========
But, I cannot seem to add any more songs.
Every time I try to add the second song, I get an error. The error message looks like:
===========
An unexpected exception has occurred.
Please see the help for details on what to do.

I tried a different song but same error. And I restarted my phone and BitPim as suggested... and still same error. Any suggestions?

thats right there confuses me and i have use the program several times with various phones .... What version are you using ? I'm using BitPim Version 0.7.29 - official ..... when i open it i click ringers which shows me mp3's i already moved or altered . But lets say it empty . i then click ADD and browse thru my machine to where i have my ringtones located. I then click Data => a small window pops up i click the option i want to use which for this task would be Ringtone checked box ADD .. Its that simple .. Now if your ring tone is too big it wont send ... try a smaller 1 ..

I use ver .30 and it works perfectly. Are you trying to add a ringtone or a mp3 tune that you play from the outside screen?
