    Question Dropped v600 - Repair?

I recently dropped the v600 by accident and it works fine except the left side of the lcd screen is whitish so I can't read the first 2 words of my sms' or phone book directory. The damage looks like it's inside, underneath the screen. Also noticed at the outside, from the right side, there's a crack all the way through near the camera and when I tried taking pics, the colours look funny (too much light & blurry).

Question is, is it reparable and is it worth repairing? I took my phone to Vodophone and the guy say it'll be about £40 which is pricey but ain't too bad - he says all it needs is to change the screen but they don't do it there because they don't sell/spare set for that model. Only other place I can think of is Carphone Warehouse(CPW) but I have to travel quite a way to get a quote and haven't gotten round doing that. Another place I took in to get a quote was O2 and the technician says about £70 at least!?!

Do you guys think it should cost that much to repair that and would be worth it to repair it? If not, where can I sell it for cheap or what can I do with it coz it still works fine. I am currently waiting out for the v635 but I'm not sure when will it be released in the UK and the price, but it surely can't be less than £300 which is a lot of money. I suppose if I could repair my v600 for £50 or less I would do that but if it's close to £80, it's probably better to just get a new phone isn't it? But then I feel is just such a waste to have this phone lying around. *sigh* I would probably let someone use it if I could repair it for decent price even if I do purchase the v635. CPW would do trade-in if I purchase a phone by having a £10 rebate... with only that amount, I may as well just hold on to my v600 but then it's back to wtf am I gonna do with it...

Suggestions/advice welcomed please. Or if they know how much it should cost to repair it or who would trade in for more than £20. The link here is an example albeit blurry: Damaged v600

when in doubt, do the math!

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...366497312&rd=1

inner screen about $40 with shipping+handling = about $50-$60 USD

    $6 with shipping+handling = about $15-20?

if you don't have the tools then drivers will cost you about $2, about $8-9 with shipping included

if you wanna do it yourself you also have to risk shocking the phone and killing it, or put the parts in wrong, to make some other features not work.

least i can get comes to $72 just for the parts - about 38 pounds just for the parts

and i don't know how the shipping goes in UK so add a few extra $ in there

but then again ive owned my own v600 for like a week, so ;p

oh, and one more thing, i don't know if it's the right screen; if you need the whole inner LCD replaced or just the screen when you open v600. they sell the screen for about $6 on cnn.cn, but camera is about $20 there.

Thanks for reply ccnaru! Those parts does seem to make the repairs cheaper but tbh, I don't even know where to start to repair/replace it I think.... i.e don't even know how to remove the screen to be replaced or where wires should go,etc.

I think as for the LCD screen, it's probably the whole inner screen coz the outside of the screen seems perfectly fine, no scratch marks at all. Erm.. well actually I 'think' it's beneath the LCD screen (the underlayers in the 'insides')... what parts would that be? I know you could replace the facias (I think that's what it's called?) for the v600 (mine is the silver colour) but is there a way to replace the black parts (the middle bit where the time display and camera & mirror goes across it) as well? If so, what is that part called?

p/s: Anyone know a site or two perhaps where it gives me instructions on how to do it myself including changing the inner bits of LCD so I don't damage it?
