I average 4 to 5 MB a month. The highest usage was around 10MB.
Typical usage pattern for me:
* approx 2000 emails/month
* verichat couple of times per day for 15-30 minutes
* occasional web browsing (check weather, sport scores, hofo, etc)
I usually use between 10 to 56 megs per month. Most of the time, it averages about 20 megs lately, because I use the following:
1. BlackBerryOS4, which I started using a few months ago.
2. Verichat MSN/ICQ/AIM messaging - http://www.pdaapps.com/verichat_bby/
3. BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4
4. HTML browsing (images turned off, usually)
5. Lots of email, approx 50 per day total (in+out).
6. Telnet/SSH using Idokorro MobileSSH
Last month, I hit 56 megabytes, and got billed $300 for this use on the "unlimited" $60 plan. This represents the first time I exceeded the cap.
Before I was using BlackBerryOS4, my usage often averaged 10megs per month or so. BlackBerryOS4 uses approximately twice as much bandwidth, it seems. (I would probably have used up only about 25-30megs, had I not upgraded to BlackBerryOS4)
So, it sounds like I should avoid OS4 for now! I'll wait til Rogers supports it and hopefully adjusts their plans accordingly.Originally posted by Mark Rejhon

I have a question ... what additional bandwidth load does BES add to the handheld, compared to one that just uses WebClient or Redirect? I didn't think it mattered, as it's all push email anyway, but what do I know ...

I used 7.5MB last month, which is also my highest usage. I've only had the Berry for 2 months.
I'm using 7100 and therefore no OS4 yet.
My main uses for the BlackBerry are:
1. E-mail & SMS
- I average anywhere from 10-50 emails sent/received in one day.
2. Phone
3. Instant Messaging using BerryVine Messenger.
4. The occasional WAP browsing.
I'm about 5 to 10 megs per month.. but that is only because i'm still using 6280.. I don't know what would be my usage go on color screen html web page.

850mhz was a must for Rogers Wireless, but now it has became a plus for GSM Canada!
I used 12mb last month and that is about my average.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; MSIE 3.02; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320) BlackBerry7100/3.8.0)
I used 16 megs last month, and am a heavy wap user and about 30 - 50 emails a day pass in and out. I'd use webmessenger, But it sucks... Going to try berryvine I think
I'm on Rogers 3.8 os, and I did tether the laptop to my berry last month as a test - I was charged $8 data even though I didn't exceed the cap. That was kind of my test, to see if they can tell the difference... Confirmed now, they can! Good to know I have it in a pinch though.

If you are already using 10-15meg without 4.0, be careful of upgrading! Upgrading to 4.0 may bring you over the cap.
(Although 3.8 is somewhere roughly in between 3.6 and 4.0, it does not have wireless BES sync, plus a few other goodies are missing.)
you sure it doesnt have wireless BES sync? The BB guys at work are using it and I havent upgraded them to 4.0...Originally posted by Mark Rejhon

i looked at my bill and i may have had some of that usage as GPRS data as I switched to the BB data mid month as a test and never switched back![]()
To Rogers Canada:
Please get a $100-for-100megs plan out at the same time as you release BlackBerryOS 4!
To xkon:
I might be wrong - not sure on 3.8 wireless Tasks/Addressbook/Calendar/Notes sync capabilities - These 3.8 users may simply not be running a BES. (i.e. like my Mailstreet account.)
By the way, I don't even use BlackBerryModem. (Never have tried tethered. Yes, I managed to write a FAQ without even testing it.)
I usually use 5-6 megs and that's with heavy hofo wap
etting bigger and pregnater by the minute

there's a similar thread in the ppc forum... some of the guys there (including rex) are doing in excess of 1GB/month w/ a ppc
Question: Why would wireless BES sync require a lot of Data? Isn't it only text? and compressed text too? Isn't wireless BES sync such things as PIM (calendar, tasks, etc) ?
