I really don't care what my phone says i just want it to get the best coverage on the strongest network. How do i endure this. I have switched the settings a few times to test which one has the best signal and i still can't tell them apart they all three say cingular? Does the automatic setting ensure the best coverage?

There has to be a way to tell them apart. After you search for a list of Available Networks, select "View" on each network to see their Network ID. To test which one has the best signal, simply register on each network and see the signal difference. "Automatic" does not ensure the best coverage because it picks the network depending on the whim of the SIM or the phone, and what it decides is not always the strongest signal. Change the type to "Manual" and your phone will stay on the network that you manually select for as long as it receives its signal.

why would my v600i not have the option to set networks to manual. All it has when i do the set up is automatic with no change option?

    V600 To Read Cingular

I figured it out thanks for the help I got it to read the SIM card instead of the tower. I used this program Motorola-Tool the link is below to change it plus turn off the roam triangle. Then I uploaded the file back to phone with p2k.http://www.fraghosts.net/stuff/apps/...orola-tool.zip

The V600i is probably pre-configured different from the V620. In this case, you will have to seem edit to enable the manual option.

I've got the same problem. I have motorola v300 flexed to v600, and recently I've got the alpha tag on the screen, so I've called Cingular support and they said they're doing something with their towers and until they fixed that the alpha tag will be on the screen. Friend of mine has old Siemens cellphone and she used to have on the screen "Cingular" now she's having "Cingular/Att" instead. I didn't notice any changes in my signal reception just that alpha tag bothers me that's it. One more thing, before this mess my screen was saying "Cingular" now it's saying "Cingular Wireless".
Just hold still, and I'll make it quick.
