Question regarding changing plans, and discounts..

The company I recently started working for allows employees to get a 22% discount on their monthly Verizon Wireless bill, and I went through the procedure online to "port my number" to this new deal.

I assume that this also "reset" my contract start date, which is fine.

    My question is..

With Verizon's new TXT plan coming out, and also the release of AC2, would I be able to switch to AC2 and sign up for the new IN TXT plan (5$) and still have my company's discount applied?

Ideally I am still able to take advantage of the discount, even after modifying/adding to my plan, because the discount helps defray the cost of taxes..

Also, does switching to the AC2 plan come with any extra minutes, (I'm on the National 400 plan), or is it strictly a switch that gets rid of roaming and provides "no service" areas instead?

    Thanks!

I changed my plan last week and my discount (19%) is still there; I called CS to make sure. Some people have reported that when changing plans their discount has somehow disappeared, so if or when you do change plan, I would just call CS to make sure that your discount still applies. I have changed my plan many times and my discount is still there, so I wouldn't worry much. On another note, the new $39.99 America Choice plan now includes 450 peak minutes; while not a big jump from 400 peak minutes, it is an increase.

Thanks for the reply and information.

When I make the changes I mentioned in my post.. Do you recommend doing it online at the website, or calling up customer service and making the changes over the phone?

Usually, if it requires a contract extension (due to new promotion), you have to do it in-store, because you have to sign a new contract; at least, this is my understanding.

    I see, thanks.

Are there any additional fees for switching to a newer contract?

Also, if I intend to switch to AC2 and the new text plan, is it best to do both at the same time, or would it be better to spread it out over a few days to avoid confusion?

I don't believe there are any additional fees for switching; however, your bill will be prorated. I would recommend doing both (switching to ACII and adding the new text messaging) at the same time. It's not really an issue of confusion, but rather just "killing two bird with one stone."

    Ok thanks again.

I am just a little concerned about how this employee discount I just signed up for online will work out..

After applying the discount (filling out form, etc.), I was told the change would occur within 60 days, and thus if I go and change my plan, and add this next IN TXT, I am wondering if it will all work out, or if the discount will be lost in tranisition..
