There are plenty of phones you can buy that are not mainstream and no teenager will ever own them. I've got a Pana X701 and I know for a fact that very few people have that phone, most of which would be HoFo users and the rest would be Symbian/clamshell lovers. That is one phone certain not to end up in the hands of a teenager.

I believe in buying a phone for two reasons... functionality and looks. To me though functionality is of a much higher grade than looks, though in the past I have bought phones just for looks (GD55 V525 when it was still rare)
As for the Vertu, I would never buy one because it simply doesn't have the functionality I'm looking for. As for making a statement, as I mentioned, there are plenty of other phones that can make an even more profound statement that the Vertu could ever make. Besides, it's only a 3390 with a color screen and an expensive case. I remember people were making V600 housings out of pure metal, and man did that phone look like a million bucks...
Then again, if "status" is your game... go for it...
But that's just one fella's opinion...

Perhaps this should read few teenagers will ever own them? I stared importing cell phones from HKG when I was 17 and had the Nokia 8890 when it still carried a hefty price tag along with plenty of phones that were targeted to the higher-end of the market.

Well... aren't you a "top of the tree apple"

If you're enthusiastic about something, you'll find a way to get it. So, you're right... few teenagers will own them.

    hmmm,

Maybe I jumped the gun abit. I merely checked the website, and saw that the new Ascent was out, I assumed they would release the upgrade for existing owners at the same time.

If thats not the case, then that is dissapointing, as they promised that from the beginning. Let us know what they end up saying about the upgrade !!!

On a side note, I havent seem any mistresses or corrupt officials with Vertus.........

    can't believe it

contaxpro, I can't believe that they still don't have an answer for you regarding upgrades-- and I certainly hope they're not limiting upgrades to software alone.

I wonder just how big the user base is for the Ascent. Even here on HoFo, you owners are a rarity!

well the thousands of dollars concierge service STILL havent got back to me on my kick *** VERTU after 4 days... so i sent an email.
I DID get a reply but the brains behind the ASCENT 2005 launch decided to launch the product upgrade BEFORE they had made any decisions regarding possiblity to upgrade or cost.
"DEar VErtu owner..... get back to us in JULY"
Let me run the figures past you all again if you dont remember
$4,100 dollars for this type of service....
and yet these guys are still in business.....amazing!!!
