Did you get it? If yes, what modifications you can do with the vertu pc-suite?
I thing both handsets have 950 mah batteries. It is very strange that you cannot make out 2 days !
I think that nokia - vertu not only use old technology, which is not bad at all, but use v e r y old technology. Recently i bought a second hand 8850 and i "refurnished" it (new battery, new front and back cover, new lcd ) ,this nokia was made dec/1999 and the menu is really fast, very reliable and never stucked.I mention all these bcs i think that it is not very hard for vertu just to "copy" a 8850 or 8910 menu at ascent and signature. Both of you pay a lot.sure you get singularity (which is the first i have when i think (thought!) vertu and to buy it) but i believe it is inadmissible from vertu not only sell b-class mobiles (not the exterior.this is aaa class!) but not "fix" them as they say at the site (future upgradable) !

Question: did you know how much are the leather case, the pc cable, the hard case, any extra which you can buy?I cannot find any prices at the net !

I appreciate a lot your informations (both of you) ! For the moment i dont have any other questions .If both of you remember any inderesting fact with the two handsets pls post any of them.

    Thanks in advance !
You should be able to find the prices for the cases, etc,. from the dealer. While it is possible to buy Vertu from the net, if you are going to spend that kind of money, I highly suggest you get it from an official dealer. My leather case was a gift from the dealer.

It lacks the latest features, but is fantastic to make and receive calls !!!

****, to burn $4000 on a sucky phone is definitely pain at its zenith...I think someone mentioned putting 8830 firmware on the Vertu...i hope that is an alternative...

if I wanted to be different, since my town is small, all I had to do was get an MPx200 and I was set, which was exactly what I did. Let's put it this way: I was the ONLY one with a 6800 until someone else finally decided to get it. For some reason, everyone tends to think that a A630 is somehow better.

If I had 4000 to spend on a phone, I would definitely go for it and then sell it for twice the amount because there are crazy people that would go to that extent. However, I must say that the Vertu is one hell of a sexy-a$$ looking of a phone. It would definitely set you high from the crowd.

I researched as much as possible before buying the signature. I wasnt expecting any bells and whistles, other than fantastic build quality, great sound, and nice athetic.

I have had no dramas (granted it has only been a month or so), but to date I ahve been fully satisfied with it.

The battery life lasts me about 3 days, with moderate usage, which is adequate for me, and when the battery warning starts, it gives me almost a full day of standbye and abit of talking before dying. which is much better than my other phones, which have tended to warm the battery is low and then just die.

The software is slow, but not that slow that it bothers me. the functions are basic, but really the only things I would want in the update are bluetooth and email.

As to the BS in my name, well, many would say what your suggesting, but in this case its true...maybe you just got a dud ??? but if so, it may be fixed with the expected update.

Interestingly, the update is for the Ascent and not the signature, so I have to wait....go figure....signature should be first, it cost more !!!!!!

In response to the comments in this thread:

After reading the original post and the many responses, I thought I would add mine to the thread.

That said I personally took offense to the following remark:

chonky_green: Just how do you know those you've seen with the VERTU are corrupt officials in 'third world countries'?

It almost sounds as if you're saying: yeah, I really liked the vertu concept, but it seems most people buying them are corrupt officials from third world countries (read: non whites outside America) .. not the intended rich blue-blooded (read: rich white Americans) or celeb types.

My apologies if I took what you said the wrong way but your remarks don't quite make sense. The VERTU is available to anyone who wants one and if you can afford it, they will gladly sell it to you.

Contaxpro: I don't think you're stupid or that you made a foolish purchase. You wanted exclusivity and you paid a price for it.

I am disappointed to hear however that the device actually underperforms 'regular' mobile phones on the market. While the device may not be technically advanced compared to what’s available on the market now, it should at least do what it’s designed to do and do it WELL.

I hope the post-sale service you received from Vertu has been exceptional even if you find the device lacking.

That said, I personally don't think it is crazy to spend $4000+ on a mobile phone. It all boils down to what you can afford.

Many of us pay a premium for exclusivity or the finger things in life. I personally drive an SL 500 when any other car would get me from point A to point B.

Regardless of the good or service, we pay a premium but we expect quality in return but what you ended up with seems to be far from it.

At least you are different from the crowd...that's always my main contention...i hate buying phones that every other cell-inexperienced teenager has with lots of song ring tones and that stuff...

Same here! I bought my first PDA-phone in Jan. 2003 while I was in HK for around $800.

It seems like its costing more and more to remain exclusive these days... with the devices like the I-Mate JAM and the PDA2K being quite popular... although I guess the members on this forum are still the minority compared to most 'average' consumers who just want a basic, free or cheap phone.

I remember when I was still in high school and I picked up the Ericsson T28 when it was recently released and everyone was envious. That began my love affair with Ericsson until I moved on to Siemens, Nokia, Panasonic, Samsung, and then HTC. Hmmm… I should try to make a list and recall how many phones I’ve actually owned over the years.

I owned a lot of phones that got attention...

The 6800 being one of them
Hopefully the MPx200 will bring some heat
Ericsson T68LX (i think that's what it was)

I also did it with a laptop; the Panasonic Toughbook...no-one in their life had seen the book in my school until I brought it in with the handle on it and everything...i felt proud until one guy that I met knew about it and told me that there were several problems that would lead to its failure.

There you go! now i believe you have a vertu..before you just sounded like someone vertu had plopped into this thread to try and save face,
In any case on the basis of this thread so far the odds of getting a vertu with good battery life are one in three....and the odds of it having a normal speed menu....ZERO!

The Ascent Update is out. For anyone interested, go to the vertu website www.vertu.com.

I for one want to know how much the update for existing owners costs ????

uh oh looks like you've blown your cover alexbs....how would anyone (apart from a vertu stooge) know about this before they have even let out a press release???? WHu haha!!

I phoned the concierge today but hey! guess what?..even she had no idea about the upgrade for exsisting users..am waiting for a call back from the "tech office" haha, what a joke, probably only one person who works for the company has any idea about phone technology.

good try alexbs..... but who knows maybe the upgrade will resolve all my issues??...(like having a , simple beautiful but decent working phone)
Maybe they might even change my whole opinion of the company and offer the upgrade for free.......hope springs eternal.

Just took a look at the "For owners" section and the PDF's about the Ascent...looks like they added Bluetooth to it...this PDF references BT:

    Ascent

Also..looking at the info on the Ascent, they list a model for the Americas and one for the rest of the world...I wonder if they are making a 850/1800/1900 model for the Americas now...

i think you're reading my post wrong, that's why it doesn't make sense to you. nowhere in my post did i say anything about race or the vertu not being available to anyone who can afford it.

there was an article that interviewed employees at an asian vertu store (hk/sinapore), they said most buyers were not local but wealthy government types from china, indonesia, phillipines etc. they buy for themselves and their female "friends" (read: mistress(es)). coincidentally that is the same type of people i've met with vertus. this of course doesn't mean everyone with a vertu is such.

bottom line, nokia missed the mark with vertu (especially in the US) it was supposed to be an exclusive sought after accessory like the hermes birkin, it's not period.
