I'm moving in July to New Mexico from Connecticut. Would wirefly help me change my number to New Mexico without any hassle? Would it be better to go to a VZW dealer and buy from them in person?
I'm considering the vx8000 or the v710 off wirefly. v710 is free with agreement and vx8000 is $80 with agreement

I got my v710 off amazon for $130 and got a $150 rebate... so I'd go with the internet deal for sure... I've had no problems dealing with Verizon
my only concern when buying from any online dealer that involves rebates is.... when you move adn change #s how will it affect your rebate. I think Amazon will void your rebate because in their eyes you're cencelled, they apparently have poor bookkeeping or look for any excuse to screw the consumer.
IMO you're better off sticking with a local dealer or Retail store, whichever will give you the best deal.
Read the fine print- your rebate will take 6 months.
I had no problem with Amazon. Got a phone w/cingular service. Once I was on Cingular, I changed my number. No problem at all with the Amazon rebate. Does take 4-5 months though.Originally posted by SuxBeingU

If you live in or near a major metro area, there are often independent cell phone dealers that carry Verizon. A friend of a friend owns a Verizon Authorized store, and he was able to get us our phones at great discounts. At the time, the V710 was $299 (249 after rebate), and the V265 was $99 (49 after rebate) at Verizon stores. He was able to get us the V710 for $149 and the V265 for $79, and we were able to get $50 back on each phone in rebates directly from Verizon. Altogther we got 2 great phones for $129, which is way less than we'd have paid through Verizon. I see this is now what Verizon is charging for the phones both directly, but at least I don't feel like a chump who paid so much and then watched the price drop way down.
