    Nokia 6800 unlocking and menus

I got a 6800 from T-Mobile for the pay as you go service and was told after 90 days they would give me the unlock code so I could use it with other services. Well, I cheated a bit and bought an unlock code from ebay and plugged it in. I think it worked because the phone said it was unlocked, but when I went to use it with Rogers, here in Canada, I found that some of the menu items were missing and I couldn't put in the parameters to use the internet services that Rogers offers. Anyone know if there would be another way to unlock the phone to get the menu items to show up? Thanks.

T-Mobile USA phones are browser locked. That means that they are running special firmware versions that prevent editing browser and MMS settings.

Because it is a special firmware version and not an actual lock, there is no way to "unlock" it. You need to get the phone reflashed with generic (unbranded) software.

I guess that makes it kind of impossible then, doesn't it. Like to be able to use the phone in Canada and the states both, but won't be able to I guess. Any way to do it? Who would do the flashing on it?

Once the phone is flashed with generic firmware, you will be able to create several WAP/MMS profiles. You can make one for Rogers and one for T-Mobile. Just switch the menu when you switch sim cards.

    Where in Canada are you?

So how would you suggest I go about doing this? I'm totally new to it. I'm in Alberta way down by the MT border near Glacier Park.

Yes, Bongo is very trustworthy. Yotin from www.gsmphone-unlocking.com is too.

Special hardware is needed to flash a Nokia DCT4. I suggest you contact a professional.

Try one of these fine HowardForums advertisers from Canada (both trusted friends of mine):

    www.gsmphone-unlocking.com
    www.bongowireless.com

You can also find them in the Marketplace.

know anything about unlocking a 6225?

okay, this might come off sounding like a noobie first timer question, but hey, i'm a n00b. anyone know any good resources for checking out phones versions/limits/hidden features?

phonescoop's all right for tech specs, but i'm looking for some under the hood action. any pointers?
