    Unhappy 1st bug report?

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks now. Now that I've got my T68 I guess I can start posting. I've been playing with it since this morning and for the most part I'm impressed. As you can tell from the subject this isn't a review.

I was wondering if anyone else with a new T68 is experiencing the same GPRS (iStream) problems that I'm having. I config'd the phone this morning and logging into iStream with no probs (I thought). After disconnecting I tried to connect again a few minutes with no luck. I had 5 green signal bars and the GPRS icon was blue. Only after I removed the battery and turned it on did it work again. It's repeatable BTW.

Next problem: With 5 green bars showing my phone doesn't always ring when called? If I call my voicemail with my T68 then call my T68 with another phone then the call goes thru on the other line.

Those are the only two things I've found so far. Weird huh??

BTW I fixed the second problem (people calling me and it actually ringing). I had to go to Data Comm>Pref. service and select GSM only. After I did that my phone dials in and out with no probs...except one... no iStream!! I guess I can change it when I need to use GPRS. UGH!

If anyone can enlighten me I would greatly appreciate it.

Oh man... thank god you said that... I've had that problem with my T28 and it is really a pain in the @$$... I think I might wait a while before buying a T68...

Here is a bug... a security one
When you are prompted for your PIN, the first digit is visible...
to show my point, lets assume the PIn is 4567
When I key in the 4, its visible, once I key in the 5, both become ** and from this point all all digits are represented as *.
Only the first one, if you only enter that one in, its visible

I thought my T28w did this because its firmware was old but I shudder at the thought that newed firmware also does this

I got my GPRS TO WORK!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!

You have use "wap.sonyericssonmobile.com" as the homepage, thats the only problem I ran into. Other than that, IT WORKS GREAT!!!

One thing I can't do is download my custom backgrounds from the SonyEricssonMobile.com
It lists them on the screen and when I select one, it says "select background and press the option button on the phone" or something, and I dont know what i'm doing!

ALSO, does anyone know a WAP webpage for ringtones and/or backgrounds? Let me know!!

    Backgrounds from Web: http://www.emobiler.net/
    for WAP download use: http://wap.emobiler.net/

    Instructions taken from http://www.emobiler.net/wap.php:

Download of background images via Web and WAP

Another way to personalise your background picture in the T68 phone, is by downloading background images via the main WAP portal. This gives you access to the whole eMobiler.net database of background images within a couple of clicks on your T68. The user can download 1 picture at a time. Once the background picture is downloaded it will be located under ‘My picture’. It will automatically overwrite any existing ‘My picture’, so consider saving the existing ‘My Picture’ in the phone to PC or on a WAP site.

Your phone must have correct WAP-settings (These can be downloaded to your phone from http://www.sonyericssonmobile.com/support ).

    Connect to the WAP-site wap.emobiler.net
Find the picture you like, by stepping through the main category menu and then scroll the submenus.
When you find a picture you like, you simply press yes.
In the menu that comes up, choose background.
To the question "Save as background?" press yes.
    Disconnect the WAP-connection.

I'm using GPRS (called iStream by VS).
the GPRS is much faster for WAP and email than GSM dial up connections

as for http://www.club-admiralty.com/index.wml this page doesn't exist

    but http://www.geocities.com/AdmiralAK/index.wml works

Is the first digit of your PIN a 1 or a 9 by any chance? Try typing in 112 and you'll see that it's not just the 1st digit that remains visible. The phones are set up so that emergency numbers can be dialled immediately after the phone is switched on and without a PIN. Your phone will be preprogrammed with the European and UK emergency service numbers 112 and 999, so the phone only starts showing * when the digits dialled cannot be part of an emergency number.
