My little review on MobiTV with Nokia 6620

I've been playing with it after work until now, here are my comment on it with some screenshots.

While downloading the app on my 6620, I saw that there's only a few models of version that are available at the moment; V220, V180, and 6620.

Since it's pre-released application so I guess the actual release product should be better although it's already good.

Here is the ICON of MobiTV

Connecting to MobiTV, since 6620 have EDGE, so it's pretty fast for the connection, it took me less than 3 seconds get it connected to the channel.

Connection done to Discovery Channel, as you can you see, it's pretty blurry as for Video quality.

Changing the channel, right now, there's 6 channels. You can either press the number for the channel you want or press up and down to select channels.
    01- BlueJay
    02- Discovery
    03- TLC
    04- Discovery Kids
    05- Commedy Time
    06- Fashion TV

    Some more screenshots...

I tried to Log-on to BlueJay Channel to watch their game... too bad.. their channel is Temporarily Unavailable. Shame...

    Picture/Video Quality
Like I've mentioned previously, it is blurry, but it is still nice for a phone, remember my phone is 65k, I'm already amazed with it.

    Sound
The sound isn't that bad, I mean, the talking match with the mouth's moving. Sometimes it has a slight delay, but it will automatically stop for one second (for buffering) and it will correct it.

Overall, for sure it's not better than YOUR own TV, (duh..) But I'm seriously pleased with it. Just like last night, I was at a dinner with my family, ah man.. it was so darn bored. I wished I had mobiTv yesterday. It will be good to have more channels such as NBAtv(I love it!), the News Channel (like CNN) and maybe the movie network. Ah well just let's hope it will happen.

So it's good to burn your time like Treatz said in the other post, but it will also easy to burn your DATA usage, even though it has different DATA package for MobiTV, I can tell, it's not an unexpensive features.

I haven't tried with my V600 as I guess the version for V200/V180 won't be compatible with it.

EDIT : it will also pause around 5minutes and it will ask you if you're still there, then press any key to continue. which is cool, you won't waste your data without watching it.

    my $0.02

850mhz was a must for Rogers Wireless, but now it has became a plus for GSM Canada!

So me and treatz were trying to get this thing working with more models. He tried with his V635 and I tried with my V600.

Since it doesn't have the app for V635/V600, so we choose the one for V220 and V180.

My result, small screen and SLOW.

    Actualy, it's all JAVA.

Well .. I remark a HUGE different from watching it in 6620(EDGE version) and V600 with the app of V180(no EDGE).

the sound goes on very smooth.. but the video.. eh.. slow.. just like having a slide show of pictures.

I've been watching for 12minutes, and it use around 5MB.

    12 minutes of MobiTV = 5MB.

    OUCH!

Does it use a different gateway so that your traffic won't be counted towards normal gateways?

    5megs x 1024 kb/meg = 5120kb x 5cents = $256 ouch for 12 minutes!

$21 per minute har har har!
    $1260 per hour!

    Expensive porn!

I don't know how the billing system will work.

I just check it over my DATA counter of the phone.

I was at 41.94MB and after user the mobiTV for 12 minutes, it went up to 47.05MB.
    Thank God for Demolines...

My boss told me, there's no other fees for now. so maybe later on, i'll have to pay even I have demoline..

The billing is flat rate per month subscription fee. No Data Fees at all.

The introductory price will be $19-$25 per month.

Yes, the price is the promo price.

    The details are permanent(-ish) though.

Meaning there will deffinetely be no Data charges at all ever (barring billing errors, of course. a la MMS issues).
