Hi Everyone,
I'm currently on my 2nd 6230i. I had to return my first because it took 12 hours to charge and 12 hours to deplete without a single call made. My analysis was that the handset was overheating.
Now my second handset takes about 6 hours to charge and depletes after 18 hours with about 40 minutes of calls in between. Do these numbers still warrant a return? I have about 24 hours from now to make up my mind and I would REALLY appreciate some feedback from current/past 6230i users!
Thanks in advance,
Waqqas

What in the world? My phone with the included express charger or my old express charger from the 8860 takes a mere 1 - 1.5 hours to completely charge. If I use it continuously, specially playing games or playing mp3's, I get a good 6 hours-10 hours usage, although with typical usage for phone calls, the phone lasts a good 2-3 days.

Notice a pattern in my preference in phones? LOL
sounds like it warrants a return definitly it might be the battery try once more

yeah seriously, send the phone back... With that kind of erratic battery behavior, I wouldn't want that thing in my pocket, with the possibility of that thing exploding.
Thanks Guys. I didn't use the included ACP-12 charger, rather I used the ACP-7 which shipped standard with all my nokia phones from the 5190 to 8390 and even the 6610, but I didn't expect anything as long as 6-8 hours to charge either way.
I've sent the phone back yet again. I'll keep my fingers crossed! I appreciate you guys taking the time to give me your feedback![]()
yeah the older nokia power adapters are WAAY slower. they only put out 2/3rds the mAmps than the turbo (fast) charger.
I'm only getting 2 days standby on mine which is a day less than the 6230 and my usage hasn't changed, dissapointing but the higher res screen and camera must use more power.

in theory yes, but these phones were designed for quick charges, hence the express charge adapter that comes with it. Trickle charge is good for the long haul (if you plan on keeping your phone for more than 5 years). Since most of us here toss phones by the 18th month, that's probably not an issue. Heck if I had my phone from 5 years ago, I'd be pissed. LOL
As for the lesser standby, that's understandable with the increased memory, brighter/higher pixel density screen, as well general OS overhead. Tips: disable screensaver. For LCD it doesn't make any sense, especially when an LCD's 1/2 life in brightness is 5 years continuous. Maintain that bright LCD by turning the screensaver off.
Good info, thanks.
Well peeps, after many trips to the service center and a week or two of testing (for consistency), I think it's almost safe to say I got a 6230i that works and doesn't burn up within 24 hours!
Here's what transpired:
Trip #1: Gave the phone in for replacement.
Trip #2: They told me, "Sir, your phone is fine. Replace the battery." Fair enough, I replaced the battery.
Trip #3: Took it back, same problem, new battery and all. Gave the manager the "Peoples' Eyebrow" ** and once again requested a replacement.
Trip #4: I walked in, the manager saw me and sent his errand man running out the door to get my replacement handsetAlmost one hour later, received my new handset, but it was yet to be tested.
Battery charge #1: The phone lasted an entire 48 hours. A massive improvement over the previous best of 24. Things started to look good.
Charge #2: What?! Depleted in 24 hours?! Deja-vu in a bad way.
Charge #3: Kept my fingers crossed. Almost a full 96 hours. There is hope in the world yet still!
Charge #4: (Current) Almost 54 hours have passed, and still have 7/8 bars. [Hence, I decided it was safe to put up this post now]
So, I guess third try's a charm! Oh, and my last replacement was loaded with firmware 3.30. Muwahahahahaha!
Oh, and my ACP-12 charger did the job in 1.5 hours each time. Guess that stockpile of ACP-7s had to age sometime!
Thanks everyone for your feedback!

I still can't believe you were using such an old charger. Always use the recommended charger to charge your phone, in this case the one that was INCLUDED in the box.Originally Posted by waqqas31

Any updates on battery life? I just got a 6230i and I'm not sure if it's got a battery problem or not.
