Sprint PCS UNLIMITED Incoming Calls !!

What will it take for Sprint PCS as well as other Carriers ( excluding NEXTEL) to Implement UNLIMITED INCOMING Calls ? I personally wouldn't mind paying an extra $10 or so to get the feature added to my plan... Or Getting Unlimited INcoming calls added to my plan if i sign another " 1 year " contract, or something...

Someone in Japan or Korea can talk on their phones for 36 hours strait if they wanted to ( not possible (yet) ) and not be charged 1 cent... I am waiting for this concept to Hit the US... I think it will increase peoples' usage of cell phones by a large percentage...

IN Japan NTT the plan that Mostly everyone gets has only 53 VOICE MINUTES!! So therefore, you can only imply that they use 10-15 seconds of those minutes each time to call their friends, and tell them to call them back

the reason incoming calls in europe and asia are free is because the person calling pays a higher fee which covers the cost of the call. so the subscriber benefits but the caller pays.

right now people in your local calling area pay nothing to call you but it uses your minutes. under the european system if they called your local number it would be a toll call for them (wireless have special toll area codes) but the call would be free for you.

additionally if someone was calling you from long distance on top of the regular long distance rate they would have to pay additional for calling a mobile phone; and again the incoming call is free for the subscriber.

so in the end someone pays. its not just free incoming calls everywhere but the usa.

OH, I have known about that prior to be posting this, but I was really refering to Nextel's FREE INCOMING PLANS, they are a US company, which provides FREE INCOMING, for say around an additional $10-15 if you look at the plan, different from the conventional plans...

S, IF NEXTEL can have FREE INCOMING, why can't sprint ? Even for a limited Time...

There is probably about 90% of Current Sprint customers who probably wouldn't even mind paying an extra $10-15 for the added feature...

Well if you have one of the new SPCS plans that has "unlimited" nights/weekedns then technically you do have unlimited incoming minutes, but only during a certain time period of course.

If Sprint or any other carrier for that matter (not incl. Nextel) had the demand for unlimited free incoming calls during anytime of the day or night then perhaps they would implement such a thing.

BUT....carriers make their money on AIRTIME and they do so during the week (8am - 8pm) during rush hour in the morning and in the evening and in between. I think Nextel has enough cash in the bank to offer such a thing, they've been around for a while and have a lot of business customers paying a lot of money for the service due to having many, many, many phones on their accounts, etc.

Perhaps when Sprint (and probably VZW) come out with "Push to talk" service they will have some sort of "unlimited" plan like Nextel has - to be competitive....but I don't think the regular consumer carriers such as Sprint will ever offer what you are asking for and wanting.

i had a retention plan which gave me the choice of FIMF or 500 pcs to pcs. for the most part, i think sprint is trying to give us whats more appealing. i have friends and family who also uses sprint and i ended up using 300 pcs to pcs with them that month which in my opinion gives me more minutes than FIMF. i used both for one month. the FIMF saved me about 50 minutes and the 500 pcs to pcs saved me 300 minutes. i think its already nice enuf that sprint made it possible to get unlimited n/w and pcs to pcs now. ive found the unlimited pcs to pcs very helpful in my opinion. for another 10 bucks i think most ppl would rather upgrade their plan instead of getting FIMF. unless u get about 1000 incoming phone calls a month, it might be better to just get a plan with more minutes.

Was doing some research on a thread in the T-Mobile forum and came upon this:

Apparently Cingular in the USVI and Puerto Rico has an unlimited incoming minute plan

The outgoing minute plans that go with this suck though heh. And of course then there's the "2 yr" contract they want you to sign.

i dont think unlimited incoming is economically feasible because of the potential it has for tying up the network during peak times.

sure have. first off it is only unlimited for the first year after your first year is up it turns into 1500 anytime minutes. second this is for their GSM network which currently covers about 40% of their coverage which is rather meager.....

On AT&T it's unlimited for the duration of the contract, which can be up to ten years.

Nextel has both Free Incoming and Unlimited plans, although the unlimited is $150 a month, and they seem to be doing fine capacity wise...

ive heard the at&t commercials for their minutes without limits plan and they distinctly mention at the end in that fast talk that after your initial contract it goes to 1500 Anytime minutes. actually here is the link right from the AT&T website....it distinctly shows that it goes down to 1500 minutes (after initial 1 or 2 yr conract is up)

and on top of that it is 7.99/ 1MB of data lol ummm $10 for unlimited? and gsm network of at&t is crap right now. so your minutes have more limits than any network.


around here nextel has nothing but capacity problems.
