I'm using E815 and PC w/ XP SP2 and MSU which runs fine and shows the ESN number as it should. With MSU running (putting the phone in proper suspend mode) I run Advanced P2K Seem Edit (SD) and it says "connected". But when I try to load a seem from the phone, p2Kseem loads all the hex info into the window but then immediately crashes (XP asks if I want to send error report, then p2kseem closes).
Before this started happening I was able to successfully edit the seem that changes the outside "Verizon Wireless" banner to blank. The phone works fine and I've tried rebooting phone and computer and unplugging/plugging USB cable.
Is this a common problem? Does it have something to do with drivers?
yes i had this problem, make sure that PST is open at the same time, this is how i avoided having the problem in the future..
First of all, I am brand new to the Cell Phone world, at least when it comes to any interface to them. I am trying to download info from a Motorola V262 phone and then enter it in my new E815. I downloaded BitPIM. I installed it and was able to get it to recognize the phone(identifies the phone number etc), but can't seem to do anything else. When I try to "get data", it gets an error that it can't communicate with the phone? Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
I purchased mpt at chrismas time and could not wait to install it. well i find it useless. I must be doing something wrong. there is no option to manage multimedia objects and i am unable to establish internet conectivity. I don't need the other stuff.....can anyone help.....fasterfiler@aol.com...thanks
Did you read and follow the directions on the very first page of this thread? It's quite explicit and I got my e815 to do exactly what you say isn't happening. If you don't download and use the "Phone Service Tools" (PST) and the seem editing program listed (and follow those directions) you will not see the multimedia options. Read ALL the directions, no skipping!
...And you bought MPT at Christmas, "could not wait to install it" and you're just asking these questions now?

Dead, dead, dead, dead. (e816). Screw the castrated iphone. This Is the beginning of real personal computers. Everyone here has a front row seat to a major historical event. You will tell your grandchildren about this. The "cell" phone is now your personal assistant and WAY more. I am proud to be a part of this historic event. Screw corporate greed.
Thanks for that... it really "contributed" to the discussion.
O/T: Seriously, I was thinking about this yesterday. While the iPhone is a step forward in the evolutionary scale of mobile phones, we are still in the early stages of the evolution.
Think about it. Just 10 years ago we thought a motorola flip phone 10 times the size of an e815 was the bomb, and many thought they were oh so hip to have it anchored on their, uh, hip. The Startac is 7 years old, and NO ONE carries that around anymore.
So you go have fun with your iphone, and if you have to post all over the boards how proud you are to own one to make the pain of waiting for it to actually work on the AT&T network less, give me a call from your land line home phone and I'll answer on my e815 that I'm quite happy with, thank you.
I just got my E815 back up and running after my LCD was ruined. I replaced it and put the phone back together. It basically works great. I can make calls, texts, etc but WEB 2.0, GIN, Vcast doesn't work!!!
I just got a S/W upgrade to 8720_01.26.00 at the VZ store and it still doesn't work.
I called tech support twice and they couldn't fix the problem either.
I tried mentioning the "premium network services" to the tech and they said they tried that.
I try to access Web 2.0 and it says "network unavailable", GIN says "can't retrieve catalog", and pix and flix messages say " unable to be sent" right away.
The VZ tech said I could swap the phone out for $50 but I have to wait for it to come in since there were out of stock at my local VZW store.
I am well versed in PST, P2Kseem, Flashing firmware, etc. etc. that goes along with the E815, so whatever you can recommend me to do, I can do it.
Have you tried a browser reset and then reloading a web session file?
I have reset the browser many times but to no avail!!! How do I reload a web session file? I have never heard of that.
Also, I forgot to mention that when my LCD broke I was able to use the phone, I just had no picture. During that time, I tried many times to fix the phone. One method was putting the phone into 073887* mode and pressing a combo of keys. It sounds stupid but I tried everything else at the time. Anyway, could doing this have screwed up GIN, Web 2.0, etc.???
You replaced it? where did u get a spare LCD screen from? my wifes old v276 had a screen that died,
and I would love to fix it for a spare.
I got it on eBay. A very nice seller, phone_squad (573 Feedback), sold it to me and I got it in 2 days!!! If you do try to replace the LCD screen, be careful not to brake the flex cable!!!
