Trying to do this without Mobile Phone tools. But i'm thinking this may be my problem. Is Mobile phone tools a necessary step?
I'm getting errors starting PST when it starts and tries to install drivers, i get errors saying that the drivers cannot be installed.
To do the seem edits MPT is not needed. Unless MPT has E815 drivers... But if you get the E815 drivers from the first post of this thread, I would think you should be fine without MPT.
i've followed all the steps in the thread to hook up the phone to a pc. but i couldn't get window to install the correct driver for the phone.
whenever i plug in the phone, it automatically install the driver for me. and i did uninstall and detect hardward changes under device mgr, but the same thing still happen. window basically do not ask for a location for the driver but install a driver called" prolific usb to serial comm port" driver for me. is it possible for me to disable window from auto install the driver but let me manually do it? actually window install the profific driver even i only plug in the cable w/o the phone, and yes, i'd tried all the usb ports on the pc, but they all do the same thing.
i'm using future dail usb cable, win xp w/ sp2

i did try that also, basically the comp couldn't detect there is a cell phone/modem attached to it. there is nothing installed as modem showed up in the modem window expect the built in one. i can add the phone by adding new modem in the modem window, but it say non-function after the installation. ahhhhh...
this 815 driver is killing me!!!

Is it the E815 that is the issue, or, more possibly, is it that the Future Dial cable is not compatible with the E815 and the Motorola drivers? I seem to remember that there are unique drivers for the Future Dial cable -- I have never used one, though.
i've tried it on my other 815 and the same thing happened. i have a feeling that its a problem with the cable cause that driver would be installed automatically even if i only plug in the cable w/o the phone. i'm thinking that win xp is considering the cable is a "standalone device" and hence install a driver for the cable rather than the actual phone attached to it. i will try to install again with a motorola oem cable later and see if it will correct the problem.
I've been reading this forum for a while, but this is my first post.
I went and bought a VX8100 Friday... didn't like it... and returned it to try out the E815, figuring I could return it within the 15 days and just continue using my VX6000. Initially, I had trouble with the seem edit on the e815, whereas I figured out the Bluetooth hacks on the VX8100 pretty quickly. However, once I figured out the seem edit on the e815... it's been smooth sailing (and the only reason why I had trouble with the seem edit is because I'm an idiot and didn't read all the directions).
Although this phone feels a little more "flimsy" than the 8100... I do my best to not beat up my phone, so that's not really a big deal for me. I don't have an echo problem or any problems for that matter. Next time I'm in a Verizon store, I'm going to tell all the Sales Reps they were wrong about the 8100 and the E815 is the way to go.
Thanks to all those who worked hard to figure this out... I appreciate it!
I have set up my Motorola e815 with a BT connection to my Dell Axim X30 and this comes up when I try connect to the net. How do you correctly set up a BT connection to Use the Dial Up Networking. I have already enabled DUN.
